If you'll get lost in the Firienwood, better stay the hell away from Mirkwood. :D Mirkwood will roughly be as big as Skyrim itself. One huge wood.

Lol making Mirkwood as big as Skyrim would make travelling really boring... I mean what's in Mirkwood other than Legolas' house and a **** ton of spiders? :P
I imagine (would hope) a couple easter eggs or goodies..
Lets think...
One large, long road.
One Elven realm.
Fortess of Dol Guldur.
Territories of Giant Spiders.
One enchanted river.
One ordinary river.
One mountain range.
And probably some human settlements around periphery of forest.
Still, it's definetly not boring, since team can put in all kinds of awesome creatures and places in there.
If you want to stumble over landmarks and treasures every 2 steps you take, you might enjoy Skyrim more than MERP.
In my opinion the fun of such a huge forest is the view and that it's so big you can get lost in it. Play on realism mode (no GPS or 3D overview map) and venture deep into Mirkwood, get yourself in major trouble and get horribly lost... That's an adventure.
Man that sounds awesome. Looking at a paper map and figuring out where I am by whatever mountains I can see around me. Can't wait to get lost
