Today, the first beta (aka beta 1) of Mammouth Party has been released!
Mammouth Party is a delirium mod ( based on HL²) using the Source engine : 4 primitives clans (the teams) have to find the greatest amount of meat outside of their base camp and to bring it back in the clan's pot . The 4 clans are ennemies, all the characters have the same skills to avoid balance problems between the characters.
The meat is obtained by killing animals tripsing round on the maps: mammoths, caribous...

If this is somekinda wierd style I dont get it . Ok the levels look pretty nice if they are supose to look oldschool . But the mammouth atleast its texture is mm just not nice . Or maybe I dont get the style of this mod . ;)
I liked it actually. Coming from someone that has his own mod released I can appreciate the time they put into it to get the mod to this point.
I hope they continue to build on it and make it better. Good fun.

This reminds me of the times when people didn't expect uber professional graphics for mods, atleast they are original and they release something. I'll definitely try it.
You know, I have to say that this is a great mod, why? because I've never seen so many paper mache mammoths in a game until now, this is fantastic, hahaha.
Now on a more serious note, and still a positive note, I think it's great, because it's original, well kindof, it's DIFFERENT i should say, and not many modders go for that DIFFERENT kindof game anymore, they all focus on making the same kindof game with an added feature which is the same feature you would see in alot of other games.
This is great, I do suggest a few texture fix ups, I havent downloaded the mod yet, but, I'm sure it's great!

Sinking: we're about 20 years old in the devteam.
We wanted the game to look toony, with textures-made-with-aint, ultra-low-and-ugly models and so on. It's the Mammouth Party's touch. :D
The grass texture reminds me of Turok (90's game). Still, we've used the physical engine of Source to be able to grab meat pieces, to use a flying vehicle code, to create a cell shading effect (we're still looking for a coder because HLSW doesn't like our coder), to be able to caillou jump... erhm.. yeah.

this mod is terrible. I ain't got a clue who's made it, but it must be really, really young people.
I had a laugh playing this, but I wouldn't recommend the game itself. Just make yourself a picture and try it out.

That explains some of my problems with your game. It controls horribly and from the start the default buttons are all messed up.
Also then, I guess you just switched the crowbar model with your own spiky club and kept the animation. For a project like that you need a good coder, because even if you get a hundred functions they will still suck, unless they are fun to play.
And HL2 doesn't like any coders seemnigly. Its not the most user-friendly is it?
I think with a few more coats of polish and refinement, this could be a pretty good mod.

I think that people are starting to forget what mods are all about, This mod looks like a really good start at a mod they have a good idea in which other people seem to like. Now mods are never meant to be great the are a game or a modifcation made by people who want to make their own stuff and they enjoy it( Well thats the reason I model and map). The fact that there are a few graphic problems arnt a problem as they have not finished what they are doing. The best way to build a mod is to keep releaseing your mod with new ideas in which you can test out that way when you are finished you have a game that people like, inhouse testing is great and all but the only way you will find all your bugs is to release it to the public so why not make your mod and release it in patches thus keeping people interested with an evolving game. It is also easier to recruit people for your mod if you have something that they can see so they can get an idea of what you are wanting to do. Also on a big note these mods are free.
Sorry for the rant but the mod looks cool will have to try it out when i get my pc working again.
