A bunch of new objects made and everything is ready to be positioned. I'm pleased to say that the mail hold is now finished!
So they took a lot of mail to New York and sorted it on the way, to be delivered there? It can't be the passengers mail, right? First of all it's too much mail and then again - how would the passengers receive letters, on the ocean...
The mail hold was indeed meant for transatlantic mail shipping by the Royal Mail. (Hence the title RMS Titanic - Royal Mail Steamer)
All bags that would be shipped on board weren't sorted for it's destination yet. In this area they could empty the bags, sort the mail, and refill it correctly so when the bags were taken off the ship in New York, it did not need to be sorted anymore and could be delivered to it's destination right away.
Mail offices on board steamers were an efficient time- thus cost saver because the mail would be just lying there anyways.
