The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion Universe. They are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses. Maelstrom is available for Rebellion, Diplomacy, Entrenchment and Original Sins.

Launches a devastating 6th order beam at a hostile empire's planet within this star system, effecting the minds and will of enemy populations.
It would be cool to see an unexpectedly small weapon like the Norlamin or Replicator Orbital Defense Platform but in fact is a stationary devastation weapon (like this one), which extends itself when it is ready to fire. This could be a compromise between smaller defense satellites and big devastating cannons. As another addition there could be intergalactic devastation cannons only buildable near suns and very expensive, which can fire their projectiles to other systems. As contrast cannons like the one shown in this picture can only fire to nearby systems. Just a suggestion. Good work on this one!

I would think it would be awesome if a small little sateelite was a defense platform but it actually had a high intensity laser in it that can rip ships apart
