The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

This might just turn out to be more a general question than specific to this mod, but I've been getting this while playing this mod, and I've gotten it in Complete 2009 too, though I didn't play Complete 2009 for very long. Essentially, while I play, I get fine frame rates no matter what my settings are (I think I've tried messing with most of the in-game graphics setting in the menu), but then after a few minutes (a few being 1 - 5 minutes), my frame rate drops to an unplayable point, except when I stare at the ground. The frame rate drops randomly, and I can't figure out what is causing it. The fact that when I stare at the ground the FPS rises makes it seem like I have too many textures on screen, but it happens when there's all kinds of amounts and kinds of textures (sometimes foliage, sometimes village-settings, sometimes the side of a truck when I'm taking cover). The weird thing (that makes me think its not my graphics card getting hot or something) is that when I go into the menu, change any graphics setting (to be high or lower) and press okay, at which point the screen flashes black once to change my setting, the frame rate is normal after that, until a few minutes pass and it happens all over again. So, I guess I'm asking if there's any folder that might be causing this problem? This might all just be my computer and not the mods, but I figure its worth a shot to see if anyone has any idea what might be going on. Maybe one of the added shader or texture folders? Heres my rig if that helps: Sorry for crazy-long post.. |

The problem is more with the game's engine than any mod. Even in vanilla it stutters like how you describe. Even with the -noprefetch command switch. I'm hearing that this may be caused by either a memory leak, or the countless processes of the AI in game. I'm going to say it's the latter choice, for my game always becomes painfully slow whenever I enter the bar or just a place that is inside that has a lot of NPCs. Even at bare minimum sometimes. As far as I know, there is no absolute workaround for this. The only workaround I could see is if you better optimized the engine itself, but that's impossible. Stuttering is a necessary evil you have to go through if you want to play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. Just be happy that ShoC doesn't stutter near as much as CS or CoP. Let's just hope they fix this problem in their next version of the X-Ray engine that they'll be using for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. That is, if they aren't going to use Cryengine 3 as is rumored. |

Aw Come to think of it, when I hear gun shots in the distance, its generally followed by lots of stuttering. So the AI is probably what's causing it. |

by stuttering do you mean brief pauses in the game where it just kind of freezes for like 1-5 seconds? Because I get that, and its damn annoying!! It usually happens when I start sprinting |

Nah, its just the frame rate drops extremely low, making the game essentially a slide show. |

I've been getting this problem as well. It's almost always an immersion killer for me as the times it happens are incredibly inconvenient - in the middle of a gunfight, for example, and I've got a computer that's powerful enough so this should NEVER happen. It never did in Vanilla or in Rebalanced. Only with this mod. |
