The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Lurk is obviously a sophisticated and deep total revamp of the original Stalker however I have one lingering thought before I install this mod. What are the significant advantages of this mod over Stalker Complete 2009.

One liners or trolls please find something else to do I already have Stalker Complete 2009 installed and I am more than willing to reinstall everything to get Lurk up if its really a huge difference.

Obviously ~1.8GB vs ~ 700mb of content is a huge difference but what really is different between the two mods?

Please someone who has actually played both post or who knows the significant differences give me a buzz. My computer is beefy enough to run the graphics, which I could care less about, is the GAMEPLAY better than SC2009?

I already checked this forum and found someone ask a similar question which was sarcastically answered with the graphics are better too so go ahead and install it already...... Serious Posts only please or send me a PM and thank you for your time.

The Difference is complete polar opposites,
While SC2009 is just tweaks and retextures, LURK is a Complete overhaul of changes to gameplay, bug fixes, and complete graphic and interface overhaul.
LURK is much harder then SC2009. (I could play on Master difficulty on SC2009, but only Stalker on LURK)
Also LURK tries to add realism and with that you cannot easily find armor and weapons just lying around.
It's also a matter of taste, If your a hardcore STALKER's Fan then try LURK, If you like STALKER the way it is then Try SC2009.

Thanks,

PS: LURK hasn't implemented it's new artifact system so be aware of that.

LURK is much more survival oriented than SC2009.

If you get shot in LURK, you have to retreat and fix your wound, or finish the fight and risk bleeding out before you can bandage yourself. Weight is much more of a factor, as you can only carry what you need, rather than what you might want. For example, I run around LURK with an SVU and a Sig P228 because they're both lightweight but heavy-hitting. With those two weapons and my STALKER suit, I only have something like 8 kilos left for food, medical supplies, and anything else I might desire.

Whereas in SC2009, master difficulty enemies were accurate but short-sighted...LURK enemies see you regardless of the distance, provided you're within their sightline. Just because they have a sniper doesn't mean they automatically see you, and just because they have a shotgun doesn't mean they will never see you. Enemies in LURK feel more intelligent, less scripted, and more devious than the ones in SC2009. LURK enemies are much more challenging, especially on the higher difficulties.

Like previously stated, it really is a matter of taste. Personally, I like STALKER's flaws, so I stick with SC2009. However, if you're really into survival gameplay, take a whack at LURK and see if it's more your style.
