LURK'd STALKER won't start, brings up grey box at startup Thread - L.U.R.K. mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Hi there! First of all, apologies if this has been covered before. I searched and I didn't find anything. Now, I'm having some problems getting STALKER with the latest version of LURK to work. I'm not sure if this is LURK or STALKER itself messing up, but I didn't have any problems with STALKER vanilla or with Super Mod Pack, so I thought to post it here. I uninstalled STALKER with SmP , got rid of all STALKER related files, reinstalled STALKER, patched it to 1.5 and put the latest LURK plus the patch on. I just dropped the gameplay folder into the STALKER directory, which is I assume the way to do it. Most of the obvious solutions have been covered. I edited the boot.ini to give 3gb of RAM allocated some time ago, it's all patched up and everything. I've edited fsgame.ltx, I'm using a shortcut with -noprefetch and -nointro on, and my system is perfectly capable of running STALKER with all variety of mods at highest settings. If I've missed anything incredibly obvious, please say so. What happens when I start the game up is, the STALKER load box comes up, the screen goes black, and then suddenly reverts back to desktop. Where the load box was becomes a grey box, and in the taskbar, there's two STALKER icons, one is just blank and the other says X-Ray Engine. The gray box won't go away until I manually quit it by using CTRL-ALT-DELETE. It refuses to start up any other way. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If it helps, my xray_(myprofilename).log file has this as its final line.
