The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

Trying to install this, using smart mod manager. It says it's installed but it's loading the vanilla game, is there a separate .exe than the SoC one or something? sorry, I suck, I know, I've been fucking with this for like 4 hours |

Usual cause is that you need to edit the fsgame.ltx using notepad or an editor like notedpadd++ which is loacted in your install directory. You need to change the line: $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ to read: $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ Hope that helps. |

If you have just reinstalled, it may be easier to just ditch the Smart Mod Manager, I did. I found it took far too long to install mods. So instead I just keep all my mods in the Stalker directory, but rename the mod folder to gamedata when I want to use it. So for instance I currently have Lurk 1.1 running as "gamedata", but have my older version of Lurk in a folder called "L 1.05". This way of renaming saves so much more time. As for your fsgame.ltx it should be the second line of the file. The first being app_data and showing the install directory of SoC. Also a no cd crack shouldn't really have any effect. If my writing is terrible to understand try googling fsgame.ltx . This will give you links to hundreds of threads where people ask the same thing. |

I kept getting access denied when I tried to modify fsgame.ltx, so I cut and pasted it to another folder, modified it, then cut and pasted it back. now the game opens and I get a black screen and it immediately crashes what the fuck this better be worth all this Edited by: bydlo |

Well I have never experienced anything like that I'm afraid, only thing I can think of is if your correctly saving the file as a .ltx or if your game is fully patched. I remember a while back some people on vista were having problems if the game was installed in a different directory. The work around was creating a .bat file in the same directory as fsgame.ltx. This involves making a txt document and typing "start bin\xrengine" minus the speech marks and save it as .bat then you double click that and hope for the best. |

disregard that I suck cocks turns out I wasn't using 1.0005, I'd just assumed the version I downloaded was prepatched |
