The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

I don't mind the map not being there, but when everyone around me starts speaking in a language that I don't understand, I rage.

I understand that it's supposed to be "realistic," but shouldn't the user, the one who installs the mod, be given the freedom of exactly how much "realism" they want?

Hell, Crysis had the option for either Korean or English speaking Koreans.

This "option" is especially annoying when talking to allies.

If there is a way, please let me know. Otherwise, STALKER is a game that I have which I will never play... again.

Actually, you didn't have much freedom in that because they only spoke Korean on the hardest difficulty (I wanted to play it on medium with korean-speaking soldiers; which was a no-go). Though I can't relate to your problem as I myself find no problem, I'd like to point out that language conversion might take some time and the LURK got lot more on their hands especially if they are busy with things that the majority of the community has requested (english audio not being one of those requested things). Just want to put it in perspective, you know, so you don't get your expectations up.

Lots of people who play stalker with LURK want the zone to be a cold and alianeting place; the original Russian audio being one part of that immersion. Solution #1: Embracing this immersion, Solution #2: Learn Russian :D
