The L.U.R.K. team wants to provide the best possible experience from Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, we don't plan to skew the scope of this game, because I, like many others, fell in love with the game because of the story, the realistic gameplay, and the atmosphere. I plan to preserve and improve on that concept to the best of my abilities, and our team has vowed to do so as well. Which is why we took it upon ourselves to provide that experience. We want to fulfill a niche that's otherwise unfulfilled in the modding community. We want to bring as many features to Stalker without damaging or changing the original theme of the game. While improving upon that concept with features that were dropped off the development cycle from GSC, such as stealth AI, and a strong foundation for balance, as well as dynamic A-Life, and an unprecedented visual presentation that no other Stalker Overhaul can touch.

So basically, I used to play the last version just fine. 1.1 rolled around, I did a fresh install. Whacked the gamedata folder in, the optimised graphics folder, then added the patched optimised folder into it replacing the files.

I start the game up, I get an ASUS screen, after that it crashes. Sometimes I get an error report window, sometimes nothing happens at all just a black screen.

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong or is this just known to happen for no reason?

Yeah, I started with that before. What GAME patch do you have?

1.0004 or 1.0005?

If you have either of those two, upgrade to 1.0006. I had to go up to that one to run the game. But if you're on 1.0004, then upgrade to 1.0005 first. The game is supposed to work on both game patches. If 1.0006 doesn't work. Uninstall the game, reinstall. Patch 1.0006. Change your LTX file line $game_date$ to True, install game, then game patch. See if it runs. If it fails, well then hopefully someone else will post with further tips on how to get it to work. This is only what I did to get it working on mine with the same problem. Good luck.
