I understand FDL is going to be a lot more darker (well, say this same place) than static lighting? On a lot of screenshots it looks darker than static.

not FDL is darker (its the same), but the underground level itself. We used real few lights, because each of gsc maps, (and build levels) were too bright, had lots of static and dynamic lights, and it wasn't that scary, as if it would be pitchblack. :)

It looks great! Pity by now everyone who plays this will have already figured out it's just easier to run up and stab them in the face than run away...

Ha! Not in this case. As i read somewhere, they lowered the knife damage so that we don't hit our cars and explode... bet till you run up to him and stab him many times he'll have enough time to push you away or eventually kill with psy-stuff :)

The floor looks really good for some reason. it'd be good if some of these areas could 'come back online' e.g. root around and scavenge fuses and parts, flick a couple of switches and some of the lighting comes back on, A door opens to an area you can use as a hideout.

That is nowhere near what you could do at IRL Chernobyl, and probably Stalker's Chernobyl too, because electricity generated from reactors will still last for 50-70 years, and until that point - alarm lights will never shut down by a light switch (or turn on, they already turned on because of explosions)

Description

I was walking down there again, haven't done that since 2009 Summer, when I recorded the "lost alpha sarcofag test" video, which can be seeon on youtube: Youtube.com

good old times :) now I used 2218 shaders, that's why it looks a bit oily, but that can be tweaked. Also the level was recompiled, we created a control room, plus some lockable rooms with devices and documents for the storyline :)
