You could see it IRL but from a far distance , there is a tour of Chernobyl , of course only to certain places and under strict security and safety rules .
From what I heard Pripyat and certain places (as well as a not too close place near the NPP) have been cleaned out of its radiation (as much as possible) , I don't know what other places are "clear for go" but the Red Forest and close to the NPP are a definitely forbidden for entry.

there are ways to get alone into the Zone as tourist, but at all 3 checkpoints you get controlled and checked stronger than a taliban terrorist...
Allready saw some people that made it alone into the Zone (with their car and the right papers for the Checkpoints...)
And i swear, sometime i will go there too!

Feeling, that you used to see it all of the time (sky, for me (I'm from Russia) in outskirts of country also abandoned villages, cars, etc) is making this atmosphere. Feeling of dangerous and lost.
P.S.: please don't think that Russia is abandoned village, or some **** like "in Soviet Rusia you eat bear.", *facepalm.jpg*

because fences uses def_aref_v vertex shader shader, and it looks like that even on high. you can check 1511 build with generators. the fences are black there too from greater distance.

we simply fixed these with changing the shader to def_trans and def lightmap shader. this way from higher distance its completely invisible, and fixes the darkening (also more realistic)
