Yes we're planning to have Seleucid war elephants with new models, though given the modelling and animating requirements they may take a lot longer than the other units to create and so they may not be released at the same time.

Super7700 I have a small thing to ask are the Seleucid Elephants from north Africa or from India cause this make a little difference once that the Indian ones are bigger than the north Africans and I found some info who also refers that the Seleucid had Elephants from Lybia that's why I have this doubt, Thank you :)

The plan is to give the Seleucids Indian elephants, as far as I'm aware most of their elephants were from India. They may have captured some African elephants from the Egyptians or obtained them another way, but I'll need to look into this further.

Rigth the majority of there Elephants are Indians and that why is natural to get Indian Elephants in this factions, I just read in a document of this period referring the existence of the Lybian ones in the Seleucid army, well most probably they gain access to them during the war against the Ptolemaic Egypt when they may have reach the best and closest north African resource places available for capture the animals but yeah I agree check it more deeply is maybe the best thing to do!

Yes those pikemen are Argyraspides, now what is the other unit?

Regarding the animations, could you please just PM me with the details about which files are used for what? Most of it is clear enough, but I'm not sure what the "lower banks" files are for, and I don't see death animations for the trireme or quadrireme.

I'm not sure, but since the shields aren't the right colour they won't be chalkaspidae or even chrysaspidae ... so if I am going to hazard a guess, they may be some form of pezhetairoi unit (auxiliary pikes perhaps?)

Note that It's an elite spear unit, and not a pike unit (those pikemen are the Argyraspides)

Y'know, employees in charge of updating and writing the wiki should be disqualified from this contest. But for the sake of educating the younger 'uns I'd say that it could be one of the hypaspistai (although why a hypaspist would carry spears is beyond me but not impossible). It can't be a thorakite because the equipment just doesn't seem streamlined or Celtic enough .....

..... well, Age of Darkness is going first to Unity, so I decided that vehicles and wonders will be making it there. Would you be interested if we ported Kings & Conquerors to Unity too?

Speaking of which, hope the instructions for the quads worked. I'm interested to see what a "Middle Eastern" quad will look like in comparison to the Roman one ....

Yes, they are indeed hypaspistai! This is hardly a contest so it doesn't really matter. From what I've read, the hypaspistai were armed with spears, making them more maneuverable than the unwieldy pike phalanx, though they could sometimes fight in the pikemen.

Regarding your other points, I'll send you a PM so this doesn't turn into a discussion thread.

So would hypaspistai be, ie, "lighter than real phalangites, but sufficiently armed to cause cavalry and levy infantry pain" kind of units?

These soldiers are still heavily armed, but they have better mobility than the phalangites. They're pretty much the best Hellenistic infantry unit available.

Unless you get a hard-on seeing all those sharp pointy sarissae moving like a Great Timbered Wall of Seleucia into some puny barbarians or Romans in tin can armour, I'll bet .... ;)

No, not Thorakitai (though there will be several Thorakitai variants available to different factions, including the Seleucids)

Description

Work has started on the Seleucid faction, and here we have two of their best units. Can anyone guess their names?
