Kings and Conquerors: The Hellenistic Era is a total conversion mod for Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots that aims to bring the Hellenistic period to life.
Macedon has multiple units that are best used for skirmishing. As well as the three basic psiloi units, the Macedonians can recruit some other, more effective units.
The Hippakontistai are javelin-armed cavalrymen, who are faster and better-armed than their infantry counterparts, but also more expensive.
The Prodromoi are medium lancers, with the speed to chase down other skirmishers and also the staying power to put up a decent fight against heavier units. However it would be suicidal to send them against spearmen.
Finally, while they are not skirmishers, you can also see the Agrianikoi Pelekephoroi, elite light axemen from the Agrianian tribe. Their fierceness and their armour-piercing axes make them particularly useful against heavy infantry, though they have the agility to counter skirmishers as well.

And by the way, I've done some work on loading screens for this mod. You can see them (and read some pointless commentary) here: Moddb.com Enjoy!
They're all looking good, and also congratulations on your discovery for cavalry, although I still prefer to continue embedding UVW maps into my units, because it makes manipulation and replacement of parts easier.
Thank you!
Might wanna be careful with the cavalry though, that guy to the north seems to be holding his spear wrong.
I was wondering if someone was going to notice the floating lance. Unfortunately it's because the new horseman models don't work very well with your cavalry animations, due to the changes I made to the rider's proportions and his placement on the horse.
Oh, that is always going to be an issue :( I personally don't like to change proportions because they will always cause screwups, it's a problem I've been wresting with for a good time ever since the onset of Rise of Kings.
If you want, send me the mesh and I'll see what I can do about it.
