but vs2 will rock so much it's not even funny.
[THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN CANCELED]
I'm sorry to the fans, I have no intentions to restart the development of Rogue-Ops in the near future, at least not while I don't finish my Crysis stuff.
would it not be possible to release at least one level just to know what this mod would of been like or is there something else preventing that?
hmmm I played the 1st katana on max payne and it was the best mod i had played at the time and i still do play it now, its just so great so of course i couldnt wait for a sequel and well i find it (finally) only to be shot down mid flight and told that this mod is practically dead, not only that but also MaddieMan wasnt workin on it... cmon i wanted another 2 page thanks man, now i am sad and sadder because i really wanted to see what katana would be like on mp2 and also one of the greatest mods in max payne history is dead, its 2008 now and it seems like a happy year to me soo why cant sum1 do sumfin and try to revive this mod, i dont care if we even have to pay for it, i would pay happily and so would many other avid fans, so please if sum1 who is or was workin on this incredible mod, if u read this please do something or u will have to live with the guilt of knowing im sad :p
That is sad news indeed Maddieman. Is there any chance that bits of the mod will be released for the modding community? Source levels, prefabs, skins, models etc?
I second that :)
Same here. I'm new here, BTW, but I've heard about the mod and it's a bit of a shame to see such a promising mod go to waste like that.
Any why not give us the few pieces that are left while the production of Katana for max payne 2? Maybe some other modders can finish it.
Okay, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I've spoken to the project leaders of this mod, and yes, unfortunately the mod is dead. Over the last year or so there were a few attempts to kick-start it, but I think it's very unlikely that Rogue-Ops will be resurrected anytime soon.
I don’t think it would be fair on the guys that worked on this, especially my friend StratonAce, for me to post my opinions on why it died (since I had no actual part in development); but it’s pretty much the same story as a lot of failed total conversions. The mod was very ambitious, and the team probably didn’t appreciate how much work was required until it was too late. No shame there -- I don’t know of a single modder out there who hasn’t made the same mistake at least once (myself included). Also, having neither of the original Katana creators on board probably didn’t help the motivation of the team (I didn’t join because of TRW, and StratonAce left after a year or so to get a job).
Again, I’m very sorry if you were looking forward to Rogue-Ops, but with no real updates or visible progress since 2005-2006, I don’t think this was a complete surprise.
