After a round of clearing up any issues with naming and realizing I'd applied bad transparency levels for the sight's glass and given the safety, trigger,and barrel the OPPOSITE shade of gray, I decided enough had changed with this to call the other half baked and the new one just about perfect, even optimized some stuff with skins that's going to make its next forms for 3rd and 1st person much smoother.

I know right? I felt really good about my old modeling, but now I look at it and have to resist a very potent urge to remodel it. (We can't move forward without it, but some are on grounds for remodeling to accommodate updated mechanics or for plentiful use of inverted faces) I do very much appreciate the support/feedback.
I know the feeling :) I always see flaws in past work and the temptation to redo it with some new stuff that had been learnt is hard to pass. Generally ends up being a better model though!
