A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
On June 28th of 2013, Steve "Stevo" Piland, the voice actor for our Valiant-class Cruiser was killed in a tragic car accident. He was a very dear friend of our Audio Director, Sancho, and was the cousin of Krillin's English voice actor.
For a while now we've struggled to find the best way to honor his contribution to our project, but now we've come to a decision.
A derelict and badly damaged Valiant will orbit a blasted out gas giant, a reference to Admiral Cole's last stand AND Stevo's passing. This will be a unique planet type available for custom map building, as well as featured in a specific map we'll be creating for it.
may he rest in peace. What a great Idea to honor him! i approve! :D
The UNSC Taco Pimp.. With that as a memorial guy sounds like he was cool. Sorry for your loss.
Taco Pimp was his self-given title. He was a manager at a taco restaurant. He had a great sense of humor.
Halo mods and voice acting have lost a great person. May he rest in peace and always watch over the love ones, friends and fans he left behind.
i will put a MAC round through a covanent crusier in his honor using a valiant class crusier
Condolences. I wish you guys the best of luck coping with the loss, and finishing the mod without him.
Wow, that's pretty devastating; My condolences to you all. He will be remembered.
Great idea.
He'll be remembered by thousands people some way, thanks to your efforts and good memory.
May he rest in peace, he was a great man.
He shall be missed by the fans of this mod. May he be always remembered when someone builds a Valiant-class Cruiser then hears his voice
On a side note Krillins voice actor?!?!! as in Dragon ball Z Krillin?!!
Yeah, Sonny Strait. I'll copy over what Sancho had to say about this:
"His cousin was Don "Sonny" Strait the English voice actor for Krillin from Dragon Ball Z, as well as the Toonami T.O.M. So when he heard what I was working on he was super stoked to give voice acting a shot. We had a blast hanging out drinking beer and recorded that slight Texan drawl. I've known him for many years, but honestly the time spent working on the mod with him will be how I want to remember him. Now that memory has been immortalized into this game."
Oh! That is so sad!
I so like how he was voiced a Valiant class...
I did not know him personally, but anyway, it's not fair when good people like he leaves this world.
Rest in peace, Steve...
A fitting remembrance for someone who seemed like such a great guy. I didn't know him personally, but to hear you all speak so highly of him speaks volumes to me. Rest in peace.
Wish his loved ones all the best and may Taco be pistol-whipping Grunts in Heaven. RIP :(
It is sad to see someone go. The Force will be with him. Always...
