Description
We have some new concept work for a Covenant weapons platform that will eventually be showing up. Though it has a defined use, we'll be leaving you guys to speculate on what it is and what it can do for a while.
is like a beam cannon dealy?
Plasma torps? Or does it just shoot a continuous stream of grunts at your ships? Lol

to me this looks like a simple planetary defense turret. the structure implies guidance. Im feeling magnetically controlled and accelerated plasma bolts.
Plasma turrets is guided plasma.
Is it connected in the middle (the black area)? Because otherwise it'd be a really weak design (one good hit to the back and the ship'd be in two.)
Honestly, it COULD be grav-locked to the other sections... so that they stay together, also, I agree with the defense turret thingy!

Well yeah, I figured it was connected at the back, but what about the middle? With just the back it'd be rather fragile.
Since when has that stopped the covenant?

When was the last time you looked at a covenant supercarrier?
Covenant Super-carrier is quite big so that initial flaw of a part being too thing would not be as weak. As heaven as said tho, covenant don't exactly apply this kind-of thinking to their buildings tho. =P
Why does it have to fire only one kind of projectile? At first it could use Plasma torps/energy projectors at short range(normal ranges for a frigate), then with tech upgrades it could extend range and maybe get a couple needler banks added to swat down those pesky fighters. I mean in sins:entrenchment the standard planetary defense guns get upgrades like that, why not here too?
I think the gap in the middle either needs to be refined to be "straighter" so that it looks a bit more like it's designed to generate and guide plasma inbetween the two sections like a giant plasma rifle, or use it as a giant hangar station with seraphs swarming out of the inside with the current curved gap.
Is this by any chance some kind of strike force launcher? Naw, that sounds crazy! What kind of mad men would create gun that can launch a strike force anywhere? Sorry for posting my crazy hypothetical ramblings xD
I believe that it is a plasma-based Covenant superweapon. I think that this could be some kind of artificial solar flare made of plasma, similar in effect to the Novalith.
*edit: this whole idea depends on the size of the actual thing. Could be anything, really.
i think it might be a starbase that would make use of gravity tethers, alot like grav lifts but in reverse. a couple on each piece would secure the pieces and could also be used for transit between the pieces. each piece could have a plasma conduit connecting each segment so that they can each have ammo for their plasma weapons and fuel for the plasma pinch reactors.
