Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
A little demonstration of how far my effects-work has come.
One of these is not like the other!
Looks Great, Death Ray of DOOM!
Looks Great, Death Ray of DOOM!
Do you know what a mac round is?
Yes I do and Im saying, It looks like a Ray of Doom on the screenshot. Chillax.
Mind you, this is the -OLD- FX screenshot of how it used to look.
See the other three for how it looks now.
a MAC (magnetic acceleration cannon)it shoots a massive tungsten slug at very high speed it's the same as a gauss cannon but on a much larger scale there is no laser or beam or even plasma it's much like the rail trams or roiller coasters of today and somewhat like the guns in mass effect without the elelment zero and change mass and weight.
Thank you for that extensive paragraph..posting a Wiki link would have been alot more effcient but up to you.
This one is, well it's yellow lol
are you on kerbal space program
love that game
Well, affecting metal with magnet generates heat and doing so with a series of massive super powerful magnets would generate a lot of it causing the slug to glow in some color of hot, like yellow or perhaps even white hot. And since the slug is fired off at VERY* high speeds, it would perhaps indeed appear as beam of light though what you see is just the trail of light left behind by the slug. Like the falling stars(burning debris) in the night sky.
*Halo claims it's fired off at 120 000 kilometres per second which is about four tenths of light speed. That is for Super MAC, normal MAC is "just" 30 000 kph.
the "frigate mac" fires at just 30kps i wouldnt be surprised to find that the capital ship macs fire at 12,000kps or something alot higher due to the fusion core they have which to be honest is going to be alot bigger than the frigates mac
Coil guns do not generate heat, that is a rail gun. Coil guns require capacitors that generate heat to charge the coil. If magnetic fields generated heat, we'd all be dead.
and add to that the only reason there could be any friction with a mac would be on a planet and with air therefore as they are in a vacuum there would be no plasma following behind the round
Coils generate heat.
It's called induction.
No, as I said the capacitors generate the heat to charge the coil. Magnetism does not generate heat, which is all the coil does.
Maybe it's an incendiary effect, intentionally added/imbued to the round? To make some kind of armor-piercing, incendiary MAC round?
