Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
As the last one got corrupted when it saved i had to start again.
Decided this would be the living section of the ship. Large cylinders rotate to provide gravity to the crew sections inside (Ignoring the fact the UNSC seem to have developed artificial gravity over night and not told anyone) and a large elevator connects the cylinder sections to the lower section.
sweet :D
There will be a day, some bright, wonderful day, where i don't have to model something twice.
lol, this will be a great day for ya ;-)
Personnaly, I always save my Blender models on my hard drive and my USB key... even Norton can't save my PC from evey viruses... ;)
It wasn't a virus, 3DS max just didn't correctly save the file before i went to bed so i couldn't open it again this morning. I've got two save files going right now to stop it happening again hopefully.
Can you backup your saves when they are corrupted ? It can be nice, you just have to model what you did since the last save...
3DS normally saves a recovery file of the model if it can tell something is messed up, but this time it didn't.
It also saves every 5 minutes or something, but i'd forgotten about that until i began modelling this and the early stages of this had over written it.
Every system isn't perfect...
I have my Max set up to save every minute, to 6 different save files. just in case
Yeah, i've since set it up to save more often, the problem is still that it gets over written without much control over it. It'd be nice if rather than creating a generic back up for any files it'd create them specific to that file so even if you open another and work on it it won't overwrite the back ups for the other file.
I seem to remember reading in one of the books that the UNSC acquired some covie equipment or something and mimicked the artificial gravity like they did with Jackal shields for MJOLNIR armor. Only a vague memory though not too sure, correct me if I am wrong :D
Even then, on their larger stations and vessels they still preferred to use rotating sections to mimic gravity....
Yes, in Halo: The Flood, the Pillar of Autumn was said to have a giant rotation center somewhere in the middle of the ship to simulate gravity.
Yeah, FOR explicitly said the UNSC is experimenting with artificial gravity and have installed it for testing on a few ships, so it's basically as rare as shielding tech used to be when it was something only Mjolnir had.
I can see why bungie chose to disregard it and never reflect it in the games, it's a pretty big thing to have to mimic, and i'm probably not going to try to incorporate it into many ships, but i still don't accept it as canon that they fitted every vessel in the fleet with artificial gravity over night.
hahaha so funny if it turned out that Section III went and mysteriously managed to install it on every ship in the fleet over one night.
It was also described in the books that ship personnel had magnetic soles in their boots to keep them from floating about.
Exellent work, even if you encountered a small problem, keep up the good work V3L0 :)
Cheers
