It originally had 2 missile pods on its shoulders and 2 machine guns, for anti infantry and light vehicle, now it only have's 1 missile pod 1 machine gun it can dance T-bag and even crush Spartans in big team slayer, yes that's right we are talking about the UNSC Mantis.

The HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark IX Armor Defense System, also known as the Mantis, is an armored fighting vehicle.

The Mantis is very heavily armed and very well protected. As such, it is very difficult to attack head on as the machine gun can shred infantry and the missile pod can demolish vehicles. The stomping ability will destroy almost every vehicle or personel as long as direct contact is made with the leg, or caught in the shock range which is roughly the length of a warthog. The energy shielding provides protection against most small-arms and only heavy weapons or concentrated fire will be able to quickly take a Mantis down before it can retaliate.

The UNSC Mantis is modeld by Cronos35, according to different ingame screenshots of the Mantis in Halo 4. We are still searching for people to voice act for this unit, so if you are a girl or a boy with the age of 18 or older got a mic and want you voice to be the Mantis come up with some lines that a Pilot of the Mantis will say and send it over to Taxikiller on Moddb with a link to where he can listing to your snippet or send it to our gmail account at Official363productions@gmail.com .

To help you with some specific line's for the Mantis, we took some of Dawn of War and starcraft that maybe could fit for the Mantis.

"Moving out."

"I will be there soon."
"Engaging the enemy."
"Attacking as ordered."
"At your command!"
"What is your order?"
"Awaiting orders"
"Enemy spotted"
"Enemy sighted!"
"Mantis online."
"Acknowledged."
"Affirmative."
"With pleasure!"
"Most definitely!"

(Remember you dont need to be atleast 18 years or older, if you are younger then 18+ you can still send in your snippets.)

The mantis only shows up after the events of Halo 3 though.

As far as we know. Master Chief was only in one isolated part of the galaxy and never on the front lines in the stories we've seen so far though. The galaxy is a big place, not every technology will be around Master Chief

They would have pulled everything they could for the battle of Earth, and then for the attack of the Ark.

True, if they had the time to. Wasn't the battle of earth pretty sudden? It takes time to shift all those resources across the galaxy. This is just my guess, not saying you're wrong.

It was, but from what we can see, New Mombasa and Voi were major military centers. No reason they wouldn't be pulled out with the rest of the armor.

True enough. At the very least, I won't argue with having another unit to play around with. Perhaps they are still prototypes in this stage.

Perhaps, but the mod takes place many years before even Halo 3 begins.

A unit shouldn't be made just to be cool.

Most people don't consider Halo Wars canon for a reason.

Uh no, the mod is still in development. Everything can still be changed. The idea of just not using a unit or playing a whole other faction because I apparently can't voice a negative opinion of it and point out its canon unfriendliness (this isn't getting started on the fact the vehicle doesn't make sense) is as stupid as I can imagine.

Even Dawn of War series don't follow the book of Warhammer 40k through and through, give this unit a chance, it shouldn't ruined the fun anyway......

But Dawn of War added new units, they didn't just drag in ones from the wrong time period.

We discussed why walkers contradict everything about the UNSC in the Cyclops image, if you want to go read up on that part.

The point of a game is to enjoy it, halo tends to be a sandbox game anyway so why limit what units go where, you dont like the unit dont use it. so stop nit picking and enjoy the free mod someone else is making in their own time.

Dude just drop it, sure you can voice your opinions all you want but you are still only one person out of the many who would like to see this in game, the chance of them throwing away all the work that they put in to making this unit(codding, modeling ect.) and who cares, its a game, and with the "don't use it" argument, then if it forces you to be unbalanced then stop complaining and use it, command and conquer games are mainly, build up armies of tanks and infantry and rush the other player, not some deep strategy like a total war game. The developer are putting there own time and effort into making this mod, think about that before you start demanding a unit to be pulled out.

One of the biggest points for Halo is its deep story and world, this doesn't aid it, it hurts it.

The "don't use it" argument is so pathetically silly that I wonder how you thought that it would be a good point. The units are all balanced against each other, just not using a unit that will most likely be forced into the campaign and crucial for strategy is a terrible idea.

Except it's not just me, there are several other people who have talked about how ****** the unit is. I am one of the developers, I helped write the units in, and I am disappointed about the direction we are going in. Don't act as if I am some heartless **** because I don't want a unit that isn't even supposed to be there.

Sigh.
Time to weigh in.

The Hornet was confirmed to be a pre-Halo 3 vehicle in Contact Harvest. You just didn't see them in Halo 2, and the Autumn wasn't carrying them in the original Halo.

Mantises were confirmed to be new in The Thursday War, and weren't that great of a vehicle in Halo 4.
And yes, mechs suck for the UNSC. =D

The models look amazing. Why are you even upset? How could u not want them in game?
Halo wars had that one lifty mech and it took place hella long before the halo trilogy.
I say the more units, the merrier.
