Very very good thinking on the blood and the scorchmarks, that will bring much more realism to the game. Glad you still have time to mod, really looking forward to this. Good luck!

Awesome job with the Shadow Blob technique you used with those "decal" props. The most I ever had was light meshes to put lights on the ground. The way those props conform to the terrain though is amazing. They look like they'll be incredibly useful for your maps.

Just a thought that first came to mind when I saw this. You might actually be able to fix those those pesky ground cover props. No more floating grass on hillsides :p.
Those actually are suppossed to follow terrain contours as well...its programmed into the shader. The problem is that it wont if the terrain is too steep... Thats usually where it messes up.
Oh well. That's too bad.

lame jokes aside, very impressive, its still a wonder of how well the models look whenever it involves a low poly count. i still looking forward to this, i refuse the beta because i will not settle to play half and risk getting bored!

Lol. Thanks man. You can really pull a lot from a low poly model if you know what you are doing with the texture...and I like to think that I do. lol. Not to be an arrogant **** or anything.... lol
my PC already hates me as much as possible, so I don't think any number of anythings will have an effect. anyway, those are awesome, couldn't you just flash a potential employer some of your screen shots and have them begging to have you on the team? or is my juvenile, overly optimistic view of the world/economy/humanity just that (juvenile)?
It is much more complex than that, unfortunately. For example, Microsoft primarily hires through temp agencies and you rarely work with them directly. SUPER LAME.
Another part of the issue is that companies like MS are laying off people left and right at the moment...so you have a bunch of dudes all looking for work who have MS on their resumes... A guy who only has his education and one year of working as a contract artist...just can't compete.

That pelican is more than epic cant wait to be able to play a map with it.Hope to see a new mombasa map in the mod.
There will be a new and old Mambosa map in the mod (ODST vs H2...H2 old and ODST new).
My life can un-pause now that this mod has been updated.

Also, brilliant idea with the pseudo decals using shadows. That kind of out-of-the-box thinking will definitely give you an edge over other modelers in the job market. Keep it up :)

Thanks for making the blood appear darker, in the beta it was like super bright red and looked cartoonish. Now it looks so much better.

Oh, and my advice would be to make one epic map to play on and THEN finish off the heroes and Spartans and things. That would be the fastest way to get a fully immersive game going I thnk.
Maybe. I want more than one map though... I think I might do a map, add a few units, another map, a few units and so on.

Wow...your voice isnt annoying at all, from your description i was all set to here some realy realy annoying sounding guy and instead you sound completely normal, in my opinion at least.
The Shadow blob technique is really cool and very inspiring. I wonder if I can do that with what I'm working on. Really good idea.
Also, the comments about experience in play. Really good points. Very good demonstration of your understanding of immersion and story telling.
