Vulkan render with ray tracing extensions for Xash3D FWGS allows you to enjoy the old game in a new way in fully real time with PBR materials and improved lighting (hacks removed, lighting reconfigured). HDR output is also supported.

This package allows you to play Half-life 1 and its mods such as Blue Shift, Opposing Force and some other mods with ray tracing.
Other mods can be added if mod source codes are available.

Very promising. I'll be keeping my eyes on this. Can't wait to see this become a major deal and block buster sensation of mega proportions.

How does Xash3D modding work? Do all installed Xash mods use the same . Exe, or does each have a unique one?

Very promising mod btw, this is what HL:Source would've looked like if Valve gave a f*ck!

It's just transparently replacing the engine. It even has compatibility with original 32bit hlsdk mods, but in vulkan ray extensions require 64bit, so mods must be recompiled in 64bit.
Some of the mods require simply put cl_dlls/client_amd64.dll and dlls/hl_amd64.dll from the portable sdk.
Some of the mods have been reverse-engineered and can be compile in 64bit. Some mods are based on "spirit" sdk and it is also available to build in 64bit.
There are also people who can reverse-engineered for money if you really need some mod.
So overall compatibility is pretty good here and many mods will work.
There may be support for original 32bit mods with ray extensions in the future (via special wrapper-translator).
Also you still for a number of mods will need to get or recreate rad files that describe area light sources. Some mod developers distribute the original map files with rad files, rad files just need to be copied to the maps directory of mod.

Ooooh. Hopefully it will be better than the current hl: RTX which is broken and the lighting is bad
