Gutter Runners is a first person shooter Half-Life 2 modification that brings you face to face with your opponents in the city of Skavo and the surrounding areas. Human forces must defend the city at all costs while the stealthy rats attempt to invade.
Gutter Runners was originally designed as a “fast mod” to be completed in a couple of weeks. As Mattias and Niclas continued to work on the mod they realized it could become much more than just one man and one rat. The mod began to evolve as new ideas and concepts were implemented culminating in the Gutter Runners you see here today.
Now players can choose from six different classes in all and play across multiple battlegrounds. The defending human forces consist of the watchman, marksman, and assassin, while the infiltrating rat forces have access to the stalker, warlock, and defiler classes. Each class is armed with unique weapons ranging from a standard sword to a lightning shooting claw. Battles are fought on the streets, rooftops and gutters in and around Skavo.

could never presume that it would grow so immensely. From being
1 on 1 deathmatch to the teams City Watch and the Gutter Runners.
A game that bring you action packed treasure hunts in medieval

Well, I don't think it's in active development anymore.
I've been a beta tester at the project, and haven't been contacted for quite a few months.
But with a working and quite polished release, I wouldn't call it "dead".

Great mod, what it lacks in style it easily makes up for in just how the fun the gameplay is.
Me and my brother really dug this mod, had a good laugh, even amongst the high pingers ;). I'll follow SMFK's example; Some requests and preferences to use or discard as you see fit...
Lighting – A little too dark yeah, I found myself pressing every key for a hl2 style torch until I realized what mod I was playing lol. A little lighter all round could be nice, or more fixed position lamps/torches.
Gameplay/speed- I kept thinking it was kinda unfair on the rats, they are described as agile, yet they run the same speed as the men... They should be a little faster with better response/reactions to chase down the men.
If possible, a 'parry' would really help out the melee combat where currently, defence is simply running away, like that PVK mod perhaps.
Sound - Cave map needs DSP, and lottts of it.. please make it huge in that cave, would sound great. As far as SFX go, alot of them were cool, but please make the rats 'snarl' more rather than squeek..feels a bit embarrassing :P. The mage-like warrior with the claw could use some armour FX too.. nice and clunky so everyone knows he's coming. (maybe a solid disadvantage?)
I think the mods got bags of potential, the classes just need to feel more responsive and tougher. Great work on the whole!
I just finished playing you mod, and I must say I’m impressed! I walked into the game not expecting anything, and came out with a craving for more. I only have a few suggestions that I think you should look at.
Lighting – I don’t know how many other people are having this problem, but I cant see anything on 2 of your 3 maps. Don’t get me wrong; I like it dark, but sometimes you cant see ANYTHING.
Speed – Your attack animations are a little slow in my opinion. I would think a rat with a claw arm could swing a little faster.
Sound – I believe your mod would be so much more engaging if it had some ambient sounds and music to go with it. As it stands you feel kind of alone all the time without it.
Those are my only issues with it right now. Might I also suggest that you add a torch to players inventory so that if they choose, they could light up their torch to see, but it would also allow them to be seen really easily! I think this would add to the depth of game play.
