Gunreal is a UT2004 mod, completely redoing UT2004's combat and game mechanics with its own weapons and pacing.

It currently features: 14 New Weapons - Weapon-Shopping - Dynamic Inventory Belt - Walk/Sprint Stamina - Dynamic Accuracy - Improved Player Size - New Blood & Gore - Hit Indicator - Smooth Weapon Drag - Grenades, Mines, and Deployable Teleporters

For those who are new to the mod, it essentially builds off UT2004 (though aiming to be its own thing entirely) to bring the weapons and combat to new levels of solidity, power, and feel of relentless destruction. Special care has been put into the explosions, effects, and especially sound design, with the specific intent (and challenge) of putting the feel of combat on a level higher than any other shooter in existence (but only you can tell us if we've succeeded or not).

Since this is NOT UT2004, however, pacing and gameplay is different. Movement is nearly identical to Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 (walk/sprint with stamina), and we use a completely original shopping/money system to add an almost RPG-like element of micromanagement and thought to the game. (see the trailer for details) Alongside all the violence and rage, we've put a great deal of thought into the strategy aspects of the game as well, in an attempt to cater to gamers of all play-styles and backgrounds.

- Also, much thanks for the support from fans so far. Reception has been phantasmagoric, and we're greatly motivated to roll forward. :)

The Gunreal Beta is going great (if not slower than originally anticipated), and we're up to patch 5 (one more on the way, and it could be the one that brings us to the final release). We've also given the Auto Updater-hungry Mac users a new ingame notification feature, to inform them of all new patches. Now the Mac users too can return those Psychic Receivers that most game companies still think everyone has; new patches are in for some quick downloads.

For those new to Gunreal, here's the trailer (showing an older build of the game):

We've also got the "How To Test" video on Moddb, for those who haven't checked it out yet (you can also watch it on Gunreal.com, on the download page), and for those interested, there's also the sound demo MP3, showing off some of Gunreal's sound design.

The final version of Gunreal (hopefully delivered in the next patch - not sure yet) will sport 2 different flavors of gore to choose from: Blood, and Blue Acid. On first bootup, you'll see this screen, giving you the choice.

Download Zip/Mac version - (has ingame update notice, instead of auto-updater) [Mac users read this]

And finally, lots of screenshots/art is posted here on Moddb.

Happy fragging!

Notable recent updates:
- Mac & Zip users now getting ingame notification of updates (a button appears on the main-screen, which takes you to the download page)
- New Turret (almost finished)
- New loading screen setup with fading effects on match-begin
- Shopping Terminals now have health bars, and regenerate
- New "Healing Ward" feature for CTF (unfinished). Flag-carriers can crouch and hold still to charge up a healing blast that effects all nearby players (including enemies).
- ...a bunch of other stuff

Major Upcoming Changes:
- Completely new match-setup screen (going back to the way you used to setup matches in UT99, but heavily revised)
- A new gore style to choose from (and updated gore in general)
- Tons of minor fixes/updates/rebalances

It is a balistic missile, you have to aim slightly higher than usual and most of the time it will blow up right under the desired target.

I dont remember very well how to use it, but i remember that the secondary fire throws a thing that sticks to the target, then you can fire the missile, aiming at the marked target, and it will fly to him(very complex, isn't it?)

Gotta admit the entire thing is cool but jesus christ that lava gun is annoying

A big no in my book seeing it both blinds and instantly kills the victim on hit leaving no possible way to move/see/dodge or what the hell ever.

The rest is cool though... I think.

What a stupid comment: first of all they dindn't sell the mod to valve; Tripwire Interactive bought it. Second; what's the problem of making a full retail game of a great mod?, that only means that the mod is so popular and great that professional companies buy 'em to make a version that reaches alot more of people...
So shut the fuck up and leave Alex and Killing Floor alone.

PD: keep the great job up guys! ;)
