History and Questions

So first off, a completely unrelated topic, I got a new PC which means I must re-install Geomod in order to continue work on the mod. I also must get Bandicam since Fraps doesn't wanna capture Geomod. OK, now on to the history lesson.

So, let's start with Burgundy. I've decided that I'm gonna make Upper Burgundy and Lower Burgundy the same faction for gameplay purposes. I also think that it would give competition to the Germans, Italians and French, thus making for a better game experience. Also, I want your opinions on a matter of historical accuracy. I wanted to know if you want Burgundy to be a vassal to the Germans? Technically, they were always a German vassal but giving the HRE too much power in the south would bind up France and many players would just ally the HRE. On the other hand it makes the game just that little but harder.

On the topic of the HRE, I wanted to know what territories it should own. I wanted to kind of give it a starting point for the invasions that it will conduct. I already gave them Metz, however that is insignificant. Specifically, I wanted to know about Italy and the Netherlands. Historically, the HRE held the Low Countries until the 17th Century, however most of the direct control was during this time. I am splitting the Low Countries to try and give France and the HRE more to fight over. The HRE seized most of Northern Italy at this time so I wanted to know, should I give them a starting point for a campaign? It would be historically accurate and it would be an interesting mechanic to have the HRE launch a campaign against Italy. The cities mainly up for debate as a starting point are Pavia and Bolzano.

On a totally different note, I have a question. Do you guys want the HRE renamed the Kingdom of Germany? It would be somewhat accurate and as a side if you were to conquer Italy and Burgundy then you become the HRE. It would give the player some incentive to compete against France for Burgundy.

Now, for Normandy. Normandy is a special pickle. With Normandy they are pretty friendly with France and the English probably don't care about them. I have a quick question. Should Normandy be considered a vassal of France? I think no, they should just be extremely friendly. But, hey. You are the people who will play the mod.

A quick note about Vikings as well. I will make a few warbands that I hope won't attack the Viking factions. Also, I think a Norse crusade would be nice. It should be called a 'Heathen Invasion.'

Woo! That was a lot to get out. So, after reading this you all should stretch. Really hard! HARDER! HARDER!! Ah, better. Well, that's my two-cents for today.

Thanks, General.
