Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.
The Red Army had been formed following the 1917 revolution, and was almost immediately called into fighting both the Polish-Soviet War and the Russian Civil War. Any lessons learned from these conflicts were brushed aside in the 1937-39 Great Purge, which saw great numbers of competent officers removed from their posts. The poor leadership in the wake of this lead to the crushing losses suffered in the Winter War and Operation Barbarossa.
Lessons were soon learned, and the Red Army was soon an effective fighting force again. Over 34 million men would serve in the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War, and over 11 million of those were killed or captured. Our Soviet playermodels were made by Pointblank86, and are seen in the render armed with the Mosin Nagant, PPSh and DP made by Seth Soldier.
Perfect work with those soldiers! It's always a great to see an update of this mod.
"For Mother Russia, union of lands,
Will of the people, strong in command!
For Mother Russia, union of lands,
Once more victorious, the Red Army stands!"
Some map could use Sabaton as loading music lol
thats one big *** PPSh or one rather tiny Russian 0_o just nitpicking at scaling with the gun model but aside from that this is a pretty ******* badass update.
Yes, I agree, the PPSh looks a bit too big in the hands of the soldier. Other than that, the player models look great! What I would love to see in the future is some map with snow, featuring winter uniforms for the Soviets (the German winter uniforms are already in game, though some greatcoats would be a nice addition).
Hehe, well that's just a render scene, not what it looks like ingame. :)
Glad you included the real Soviet flag, for historical accuracy. I just wish there were plans to add the historical German flag as well. I really like accuracy in historical games/mods, so I hope that the German flag will be added in, or at least in a separate version.
They couldn't include the Swastika because of censorship in Austria and Germany and possibly some other countries I don't know of. The mod would be banned in those countries if they included it. Yeah it's kind of hypocritical of those governments but it's not worth losing players in those countries for the sake of including a historical symbol.
You guys are the best
