I don't know why people hate the ground battles so much. Sometimes I like them better than space battles. Space combat can get repetitive and is often over quickly (especially in GC). Don't get me wrong, I like space combat, too, but ground combat is always much more of a real challenge. It's very disappointing how many mods just ignore ground battles.
I agree at 100%.
I think because of you can't place the buildings by yourself like in Command & Conquer or Age of Empire...

Well, a few coding can change that bit where you can't place structures by yourself. I'm sure it's possible to start with an MDU like unit that can build a command centre, which can build MDU's for other structures or sumthin ^^
Yes, you can make it with a MDU unit but...you can not build units and spawn them in the same place.
I'm in the same boat, I actually like how the GC handles ground combat by making it an invasion from space against an already entrenched force. It's a good system the problem is it feels very unrefined. There is so much more that could be done with it.
I like the introduction of tight infantry only maps in some mods, an example being the latest update of the Clone Wars mod. It's a much bigger challenge and adds a nice uniqueness.

Btw, sorry if I have skipped this information but will there gonna be a GC playing against the CIS or Republic?

According to a previous post from the author, yes. Apparently, if you choose the Republic or CIS in most scenarios, it will be clone wars era with no Rebels or Empire.

Yes I know. After all, the Republic's fighting the Empire in this video. I said most scenarios, not all.
Then, of course, there's always skirmish mode.
The unique scenary that you can not play, it would be the clone wars with all factions. But you can play with all factions in the era from Episode IV and after it. You can play the Battle of Hoth or attack the Death Star II at Endor with the Old Republic or the Separatists between other factions.
