Alliance are a serie of different mods. On the Star Wars GC, you can play the civil war Empire vs Rebel era + Black Sun and soon the Republic and CIS.
Well, if you do not know about this, Grey Goo was released yesterday. By 45€, you can buy the game.
What about me and Grey Goo? I do not go to buy the game by the moment, it is too expensive for me and I do not need it. I do not know if it can be edited at 100%, the developers have not answered my questions about this and I feel how they are ignoring the matter. Just they released the map editor but we do not know nothing more.
At the end, probably after some months it will be cheaper and better, with less errors because I feel how perhaps they launched the game very fast. Few months ago they wanted launch a beta, next they canceled it and they announced the release from the game.
About other points, there is one point which you must know about this game, it has a very high minimun requeriments. Probably it will not run at most of your laptops. I do not want be too critic but I see this as a complete failure. Perhaps they are high because they use a upgraded version from EAW and it was the unique way from guarantee a good performance and avoid the thousands of problems as the lag which all we know and it can not avoided, specially if you add more detail to the game.
These are the computer requeriments for Grey Goo.
Requisitos del sistema
MINIMUM:
OS: 32-bit Windows 7
Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 Dual Core or equivalent
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: 1024 MB DirectX 11 capable video card (GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5870)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 15 GB available space
RECOMMENDED:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7
Processor: 3 GHz Intel Core i5 Quad Core or equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: 1024 MB Direct3D 11 capable video card (GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 7870)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 15 GB available space
If you compare these requeriments with other games as Planetary Annihilation or even Starcraft 2, probably you will be surprised.
Nice
I have played the game few moments and I do not think that this will be a new EAW. But clearly it is the same engine upgraded. However, I do not think that it needs a very powerful computer, my Q6600 overclocked to 3ghz + 8gb ram + GTX 660 can handle it easily. Even the default scroll is too fast.
About the game and if it can be modded, probably yes but we have not a 3dmax export tool and without it, we can not add new models. I have not checked too much the data but I would be surprised if it has not xml files and clearly it uses alo models.
But the game only has the typical skirmiss mode and a campaign, there is nothing as a galactic conquest. At the end, I see it very limited for modding and I do not know if I like it. Specially when there are better options. Lately at EAW with my last changes I´m enjoying more my Alliance mod. You will see in the next videos. I have made many fixes but I have added many changes and I will add more.
> there is nothing as a galactic conquest
wow.. seems like a very bad move as far as im concerned.
I hope some modding tools get released anyhow.
Also a weirdly unatractive name.
I would be surprised if they release some as modding tools very soon, specially if they sell the game well. The point is how they have avoided all the questions at their forum about modding and it is not good signal.
Clearly they do not want mods, at least by the moment at this game because the megeditor can not open the CONFIG.meg file where probably are all the data from the game.
About maps. The ted format is the same from the old SW Empire at War game and Universe at War, both are games made with the older versions from the Grey Goo engine. But clearly the developers have added a decaffeinated and very limited map editor to the game.
At the end, I find all this very sad.
The bitter aftertaste of a wasted opportunity.
Yep, however, Petroglyph are the unique which they will lose here because at the end, his game will be forgotten at few months.
