INACTIVE About the game (story): Far Cry: Cerebrus Protocol is a modification for Far Cry that is being developed by Zoetic Games. Our Aim is to create a mod that looks, feels and plays like the original game but has many more features and new concepts. The game will be set at the same time as the original game (the same time Jack carver was present) but the story will be angled towards more of the unknown Trigen experiments and what happens when a prisoner with a vendetta escapes. Story/Plot Set during the events of Far Cry, you find yourself in the shoes of a dazed and confused prisoner named Bruce Murphy. When the power goes out in one of Kreigercorps main facilities, Bruce takes the oppurtunity to escape, only to find himself caught up in a deadly conspiracy and as he soon learns, he doesn't have long before he's surviving purely on instinct. With the clock ticking and an army of Mercs bearing down upon him, it's up to Bruce to escape this living hell.... Game information:...

Sort this out for me...is Far Cry's HDR actual HDR, or just bloom?

For all I can tell, HDR is just a overdone bloom effect.

Download.nvidia.com

quickly googled this, if you scoll down abit, it gets into HDR in far cry.

- I'm not sure what defines 'actual' HDR, but the effect is experimental (added in patch 1.3) and either way, it works pretty well.

Farcry doesnt use HDR, it uses bloom. HL2: Lost Coast uses 'real' HDR. Anyway, still looks nice though.

I think you'll find (without even too much research) that farcry 1.3 hdr uses a true HDR effect while hl2 will use a 'bloom' effect instead... (though neither should be really better or worse)

Farcry has the lighting advantage, hl2 will have the speed advantage ( plus hl2 using the immitation effect will allow AA... which shall be ace ( and prolly a better compromise )

now I just gotta get a 6800... dammit

Different companies use different defintions for HDR. There is no current standard.

But if both are capable of the 'eye adjustment to light' effect then they are both HDR in my books.
