This mod is set in Games Workshop's, great Warhammer 40,000 ( 40k ) universe. Each map pits Imperial Space Marines against the Tyranid swarm and the Legions of Chaos, competing in a series of mission objectives, culminating in a battle to decide the fate of the planet. Well space marines to have a HUD like screen. Here look at this vid. It clearly shows a HUD like system. (DOW Dark Crusade Intro)

"The helmet is fitted with automatic sensory devices developed on Mars, this allows the wearer to see and hear as though not wearing a helmet, and, since all information is transmitted to a computer in the helmet before being transmitted directly to the wearer's brain via neural link, blinding lights and deafening noises can be muted so that they don't harm the wearer. The wearer is also able to see in the infra-red and ultra-violet spectrum, images can be zoomed in and magnified while noises can be enhanced." So technically they do...it just doesn't have much "Status" to show...so really, it should be more transparent IMO.

Actually WH40k Fluff says its projected onto the 'back' of the retina (not sure how that works lol) and its only the more Advanced targeting, or Tech Marines, that would have a 'HUD' so to speak. Everything else is Psycho-Indoctrinated triggers, that when preformed that display small, minimalistic cues onto the eye itself.

Atleast, that's how I understand it.

However, Targeting Systems (Heavy Weapons/Devastators) would have something like a 'crosshair', and targeting system as you see in the start of DC.

Remember, even though they are space marines, they are soldiers, not cyber warriors, the bolter has about as much of a crosshair as a M16 :P

I believe the only chapter that would probably out-right have Aim-Assist Targeting, standard, would be the Iron Hands.

Well, Space marines need to wear the helmet JUST SO the power armor will function properly(Unless he has augmentations that would allow him to be helmetless). So IMO, there is HUD display regardless...just less "status" and probably extremely transparent(unless, like you said, they're using Aim-assist Targeting)

Description

Tyranid warriors have penetrated the defences of an imperial outpost and threaten to overwhelm the defenders. Can the Ultramarines retake the objective? or will the have to fall back?

Here's a shot snapped as I respawned just as the warrior on the left captured the outpost objective (setting my new the mission at the bottom centre). Even with a full load of ammo and equipment (show on the right) it's questionable if Alpha tester Razielk of clan Ordo Xenos and I can defeat a pair of tyranid warriors at such close range.

This screenshot was taken during our 3rd closed Beta gameplay testing session.
