I like to announce EVE: RTS (work name) It's a mod about EVE Online developed by myself, featuring ships and other objects directly from the original Game. Models and Textures were extracted using TriExporter. CCP confirmed that I can use their Artwork. (see end of summary)

'*' is only showing that this may get ingame this way. Not sure about Drones, Dreads and Titans.

The Support ships will call in reinforcements ... not really build them. Only Drone Carriers, Carriers and Super Carriers will launch the Drones, Fighters and Bombers.

Dreadnoughts and Titans may get the status of a support, so they can call in smaller shipclasses.

And please forgive the missing 'r' in 'Super Carier' ;-)

Awesome concept, loving it. If you could pull this off, that would be about as perfect of an eve RTS as you could get. Buildable modules on capital ships would allow specialization and give the option to the titans to bring in support as well as all the other roles that the carriers can perform. This tech tree shows an awesome economy buildup (one previously lacking in HW2), as well as the full range of ship class/size. Definitely looking forward to it, looking amazing so far. BTW if you need any help, you have an avid EVE player here ready and willing.

Oh and P.S.
With the extended economy getting good attention, would there be any possibility of POS's? A fortifiable station with orcas and hulks running around would just be epic. Not to mention battle stars...

POS hm.. jea I had control towers ingame in an early build. For PVP it's really easy to realise as Human players are pretty cleaver compared to cpu, wich won't recognise if it's ships are stuck between stations. Or if an exit is blocked.

In the first version their will be only one gamemode i think, as I like to push it to a small demo style release in near future.

In this version the Orca will take the role of a resource controller while the three Miners are 'Collectors'

Then I'll start gamemodes - and i have several ideas there... Stations will also get their use in economy.

Awesome, sounding great, looking forward to seeing how it all comes out. And love that you are aiming for an early simple release, I think we followers all appreciate that :P

Yes

It's a question of if your computer can run the mod at all with the high poly models and high resolution textures. Special attention to LOD's will need to be taken to make this run on the average user's computer.

For now, all ships have at least lod0 and lod1 and almost every major effect has lods too.

So I try to keep it playable. But as I said in one of the test screens ...
It's still playable and nearly not lagging in a battle of 100vs100 Battleships. Even a test with 200 Cruisers exploding at once did not crash the game - i got a slow mo for about 5 seconds and then game runs on pretty smooth with all the 200 wreckages and debris effects.

If there is not a very extreme scenario all runs completly smooth.

My PC Specs:
i7 920 @ 2.66-2.8 Ghz
Nvidia GTX560 Ti 1GB
6 GB RAM

Bus as Hw2 does not really use all cores and not really much of the RAM
you should be able to run it with every i3, i4 or i5 processor ... not sure with AMD's are the equivalent.

For the GPU ... I will try it on my laptop when it's back from it's repair vacation.
it's only a core2duo with 9650 GT 1GB and 4 GB of RAM
