New unit: Lancer image - Empire At War Remake: Galactic Civil War mod for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
This mod catapults Empire at War into 2077. It maintains the game's design philosophy, while adding new units, better graphics, and deeper gameplay.
Lancer-class Anti-Starfighter Platform. While not particularly durable, agile, or speedy, the Lancer is equipped with a substantial amount of layered dedicated anti-starfighter weaponry, and advanced targeting systems for anti-missile and -torpedo purposes. Armed with 9 long-range, but slow firing quad medium lasers, and 10 low-range, but rapid-fire quad medium lasers, the Lancer is able to screen enemy starfighters from a safe distance. Great for use alongside Imperial capital ships, where the Lancer can be protected from heavy enemy fire, that it cannot on its own sustain.

The Lancer is a tech 4 dedicated AA platform for the Empire. Initially I planned for this to replace the Vigil outright, but it is such a different unit that there is place for both.
The Vigil is tanky, speedy, hard-hitting with its missiles and turbolasers and comes with a TIE Vanguard squadron. Very useful for hunting down corvettes.
The Lancer is purely a AA platform, that is not very durable, speedy, or agile, and while its layered firepower is very effective, it cannot hope to do the same job as the Vigil, so both corvettes are staying in the Empires roster.
