This mod catapults Empire at War into 2077. It maintains the game's design philosophy, while adding new units, better graphics, and deeper gameplay.
While space combat in the mod has a lot of depth, sometimes it's not immediately obvious. I do what I can with unit descriptions and the like, but I think it's time to start taking more measures to make it even clearer. This time around, it's the default camera angle and a reduction of 50% of the difference between ship spawn heights.
These changes were made to give a clearer view of the battlefield and what's happening on it. My hopes are that if players can more clearly see the battlefield they'll make fewer mistakes, and I have to hear fewer dumb balance suggestions in turn.
I'm also strongly considering releasing a optional code add-on that reduces the max pop cap to 75, removes all units larger than the Titan-SD, for a more focussed battle-sim experience. Currently the scale of the mod works against its tactical depth, oftentimes so much is happening at once it's hard to focus and some of the more intricate parts of the balance gets lost amidst the potential for a-moving and deathballing, something EAW encourages by its very design. With smaller fleets there's more room for micro-ing individual units, and tighter strategies. Not to mention fewer idiotic pathfinding issues.

Yeah, less height difference is great, sometimes it felt like a ship is very far from other, had often to scroll up to 90 degree view
