In year 2047, the alien crystal element - commonly known as "Tiberium" - began blanketing the Earth. As war continued over the past century between the European Union (EU) and the Pan Asian Coalition (PAC), Tiberium fields continued to grow, changing the course of Nature forever. The year is now 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice Age has thrown the world into a panic - a global threat that nobody has ever expected. In "Command & Conquer 2142", the two military superpowers will collide - in an epic battle for the last habitable lands. The math of this war is simple: Some will live, most will die.

"Goliath ready for combat"
*runs into ambush very early*
*gets destroyed with everyone inside*
"The Goliath has been destroyed!"
EU players: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

lol hahaha, the Goliath's regenerative armour is probably too tough for a simple ambush to break I'm afraid :P

Not if it's a well coordinated ambush :P
By the way how is that system of armor regeneration implemented here? Does it regenerate itself? And the armor regenerators are just eye candy right?

Currently, armour regeneration is activated at all times, but efficiency in terms of bringing the Goliath back to full health differs between situations. For instance, ordinary attacks head-on will probably be of little use - but the Goliath is not invincible. Its health regeneration is a scaled implementation just like that in BF2142, so as long as you maintain enough firepower aimed at it, you might well defeat it! ;)

Flanking tatics, EMP, orbital strikes and so on definately help alot when it comes down to defeating an epic unit like this. As for the armor regenerators, we would've done something about those if only the CNC3 engine is capable of such fine details.

So it will cost alot right? By the way... the unit prices are going to be accordingly right? I mean I don't know what resource system you really are going to use, I still think having multiple sources of income/multiple resources to be cool.

So then, I guess it's gonna be this way, from cheaper to expensive.

EU: Bandit < Groundhog < Tiger < Riesig < Goliath < Titan
PAC: Ocelot < Hachimoto < Romanov < Nekomata < Bogatyr < Titan

In terms of purely looking at the financial costs, then yup, that is how we have it right now ;)

As for the resources system.. since so far all of our media coverage has been using our existing storyline, which is essentially a Tiberium-inhabited Earth now facing the dawn of a new Ice Age, personally I think we probably don't have too much of a choice but to stick to it at least partially. Having said that, i CAN confirm right now that the usual BF2142 Conquest mode "tickets" will not represent cash in CNC2142, and captured Titan Mode silos will generate income. So there you have it, a few in terms of resources variety :P

well, right now just for the sake of testing out the units, tiberium fields will remain in the CNC2142 internal build. maybe they will not gona make it into the final public version, we'll see :)

!! WARNING: THIS POST IS JUST FOR IDEAS, SINCE THERE IS TIBERIUM IN THE 2142 UNIVERSE !!

!! I THINK YOU SHOULD FINISH THE MOD FIRST BEFORE CONSIDERING ALL OF THESE IDEAS !!

!! I ALSO SPENT QUITE SOME TIME THINKING ABOUT THIS !!

"..since so far all of our media coverage has been using our existing storyline, which is essentially a Tiberium-inhabited Earth now facing the dawn of a new Ice Age..."

Derek, how about it going the other way around? The Ice Age comes before the Tiberium (Ice Age starts in 2101), make it like the Tiberium asteroid hits Italy about 135 years late (2125), that would be interesting. You would keep your Tiberium and your Ice Age, but it would make the story a bit more interesting.

EDIT #1
If you want a reason why Tiberium has spread across the world so fast in just 20 years (if it appeared in 2125), just say the Ice Age and climate shift had something to do with it lol.

I don't know if you want to include C&C story stuff (NOD + Kane, but NO GDI), but if you are (which I hope you DON'T), make hints of NOD in the background as some kind of terrorist organisation or freedom fighters which were formed from the civil unrest of the Ice Age and the Northern Excursion (evacuation of the Northern Hemisphere where billions (yes, it is BILLIONS! By 2100, the world's population would have increased by a number I have no idea unless I search in Google, but I cba) have to evacuate to warmer parts of the Earth (Equator - Africa, Australasia, Central America).

*POST CONTINUED, DAMN 2000 CHARACTER LIMIT*

*CONTINUED POST*

The reason why these NOD people would be fighting is because they want to survive; because of the large amount of Northern refugees wanting to cross into warmer places, there are just simply way too many of them, therefore ports/borders are blocked and the refugees have to fight their way through if they want to survive.

Just an idea, since there is a C&C resource in the mod (Tiberium).

EDIT #2:
What I meant by "hinting" this NOD faction is by having big posters on buildings, torn NOD flags or something, saying stuff like "RISE UP!" "WE FIGHT TO SURVIVE!", "DOWN WITH BORDER CONTROL!" (lol?).

EDIT #3:
Another idea were to be hinting them in Single Player Campaign cutscenes (the cutscenes would be recorded in Battlefield 2142 - Battlerecorder or Battledirector. I am experienced in these two programs for Battlefield 2142 by the way), thats if you get around to the idea of a Campaign of course lol.

THE END

So basically, NOD in this version of 2142 are like an easter egg that can be noticed in small details of the maps (mainly Urban maps or ports like Camp Gibraltar or Tunis Harbour, where refugees and civilians gather).

lol thanks :D but I can assure you right now there will be no GDI, no NOD, no SCRIN, and no Kane. so you can rest assured, no need to worry hahahahaha :P
(and LOL "down with border control", toooooo funny! XD)

I can try to put them in like an easter egg, but I fear other BF2142 fans out there might not appreciate Kane messing with their "Battlefield" :P As for the timeline, I duno, that would completely defy the whole timeline described in BF2142's maps.. and I'd honestly rather have Tiberium removed if it comes down to that hahaha :P

It was just an idea since Tiberium is a part of the story in this mod, you don't need to add it if you don't want to. Besides, the idea of Tiberium being a part of 2142 is completely defying the whole timeline described in BF2142's maps anyway, so who cares if theres a few references to NOD?

Although, if Tiberium is removed with lets say supplies (C&C Generals) or bits of metal wreckage (with Tiberium Spikes being Oil Towers), you don't need to worry about all this stuff.

Yeah Jinzor those were cool ideas I had been also thinking, in the middle of all that chaos in the Ice Age, the exodus, the famine, all the refugees, the war between EU and PAC etc etc... Nod could be exactly those refugees tired of being just another statistic in the mid of all that chaos. We all know how it went, the refugees and such, for example that image where an L5 Riesig is shooting at a crowd trying to pass a border. However, a much better idea I think is to add another "oficial" faction, for example the African Union, which is mentioned but never represented in game despite some of the most important battles being obviously in their territory (however one could assume they are already part of the EU army, just look at the EU's infantry with Heavy Armor skin, they are obviously African or of African descendency.

STILL... there's always.. NAC! You could do just as the ER mod is doing, and add a North American Coalition, something like "North America was completely enveloped by ice, reducing both Canada and US to a multitude of fleeing people and vehicles, in an exodus worse than the one in the Old Continent, and South American Union (or something like that) closed it's borders, and so NAC crossed the Ocean for Africa, joining the fight of EU and PAC. This would fill in the third faction slot.

Perhaps.. the most interesting of all.. would have the Scrin join the fray... with the excuse that they are snow environment creatures, and spotted the Earth at the precise moment it was in an Ice Age, and are therefore invading.

About the resources Derek, why not just resking the Tiberium so it looks like Metal Deposits? (representing metal and all the other materials) After all metal would be the most used stuff to construct everything, and this is a war for resources. And then Tib Spikes would be Oil Derricks with lots of income. Much more realistic and immersive no?

i know it's all very exciting to speculate about how we should mod the economic system, but honestly speaking, this might be slightly beyond even my programming skills, so while it is great as an idea, might not be able to work because i probably won't be able to do it >.>

I think we should worry about new factions and realistic resources later, like when the actual game mechanics of the mod are finished.

Few things though:
• UAN (Union of African Nations) is not very powerful. The EU want to get land from them for their population to escape the ice sheet consuming their continent, but the UAN only allow some (maybe about 800,000 - 2,000,000 every year or something). The EU defend important places for the UAN (Tunis Harbour, Suez Canal, Camp Gibraltar etc) because the EU's military is more advanced than theirs and is more capable of preventing invasions by other foreign superpowers (I'm just guessing here, but it would make sense).
• Just because the Heavy Armor skin for the EU has a black person doesn't really mean that they are part of the UAN, remember Battlefield 2? All the Heavyily Armored USCM skins were black. I guess DICE were just following on from that (if they had a way of making it so that you could choose what appearance you wanted, then DICE would have done that)
• The NAC, EU and PAC factions are not friendly (it reminds me of that RTT game "Tom Clancy's EndWar", where America, Europe and Russia fight each other in the near future to be the #1 superpower of the world)
• South America, Africa and Australasia are neutral-ish (I don't really know if they are, but you never see them fighting so...)
• Scrin would be...weird...would make the story suddenly all unrealistic like Crysis and C&C 3

honestly, I highly doubt I'll ever go through with making all these new factions, they would simply make the game less truthful to the original BF2142, and we don't want to see that.

nah no problem :) I must say even I would find it strange, it was all more like loud thinking than actually serious proposals or me really wanting it. Lol how do you come with so much "lore" of battlefield 2142? It's something one just "develops" right? After playing it so much and thinking about it a lot.. the few things that we know about battlefield 2142 story and our imagination do the rest.

well, the storylines come up pretty good if you look at each map's description when it's loading. they are organized into years, sometimes months, and tells us how a battle begins, so on. if we could follow it that'd be pretty cool imo XD

about the resource ;
well do u guys remember old C&C games such as red alert 1 ?
there ores spreaded all over the map and factions have harvesters to collect them. if u reskin tiberium to look like a ore that would be this games resource system
how about that ?

Remember C&C cutscenes like this for the Campaigns?:

Just imagine something like that for a Campaign, but only it's scenes use the original game like this trailer:

I am able to copy scenes like this (don't believe me? check my youtube account), extremely easy to do if you have the following:

• A good server + Set to Battlerecording setting
• Enough actors willing to do what the director says

Description

Hello to our Moddb friends & visitors! :) The CNC2142 mod team has been hard at work lately, so check out these screenshots and our latest news article update, to be released later today! Still very early in progress, but I'm sure for those of you loyal BF2142 fans out there wouldn't need any tips to recognize the latest to join the PAC's air force, right? ;)

We hope you'll like this set of screenshots as much as we do! :D
