Clone Wars - Overview

Clone Wars is a class-based multiplayer tactical shooter which uses a profile system to track and store your troops' information. Players must create a profile in order to play in any of the game types, excluding Arena Mode. Your profile contains information for all your unlocked classes, weapons, equipment and skills and allows to progress through ranks to enable new abilities.

Gameplay Not as clumsy or random as Jedi Academy...

The main premise of Clone Wars is to bring a new tactical element to combat in JKA. Charging in head first against a strong opposition will most-likely get you killed instantly; knowing when to take cover is essential for any player's survival. Every weapon, whether a completely new weapon or an altered version of a JKA weapon, has been given an increased ability to kill. Able to kill most targets in a single shot, blasters and sniper rifles make for formidable opposition in the right hands. Grenades need a more precise application to be effective, but a well-placed thermal detonator can bring a lethal end to a firefight.

Four distinctly different  game types, Clone Wars, Domination, Capture the Flag and Arena, offer hours of entertainment and varied gameplay to challenge your skills.

Clone Wars, the core game type of the mod, pits the Grand Army of the Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems in battles across the galaxy to destroy one another. As in JKA's Siege mode, one team attacks a set of objectives, while the other defends. At the end of a round the teams swap sides and the new attackers must complete their objectives more quickly than their rivals. However in Clone Wars, sub-objectives are available to both teams to help them achieve their goal, many requiring the skills of a particular class to complete them. Keeping a varied team is often vital to achieve victory as each class has weaknesses as well as strengths.

Domination sees the GAR and CIS forces face off in conflict to dominate the battlefield. Each map has a number of "Domination Points" scattered around. These points, when controlled, provide a respawn location as well as supplies and vehicles for the team holding them. The objective of Domination is to control and defend all the points on the map and keep the enemy from attacking them.

Capture the Flag has been altered significantly from JKA's CTF game type. Capturing a flag requires you to hold the enemy base, rather than just running over the flag. The profile system will create a difference in skills and equipment within a team; a lightly equipped scout or stealth unit may be best suited to carrying the flag, but a player with heavier firepower will be required to defend.

Arena, the only game type not to employ the profile system, Arena Mode is the Team Deathmatch of Clone Wars. The server host is able to decide the weapons, equipment, armour and abilities available to players, who customize their soldier to their liking and proceed to shoot anything that wears the enemy team's colour. Tactics are still an important part of gameplay, but the only objective here is the eradication of the enemy.

Weapons, Equipment and Abilities An elegant mod, for a more tactical age...

Using a class successfully will grant you access to new weapons, equipment, abilities and eventually new classes. Each weapon is different from all others, even weapons which function similarly have differences which suit them to different fights. Firearms range from small blaster pistols, through blaster rifles, sniper rifles and heavy repeating blasters to rocket launchers and an assortment of hand-held explosive devices. Having the right weaponry for the job is essential if you want to survive on the battlefield. Different pieces of equipment serve different purposes. Small personal shields can protect a medic while he tends to a fallen teammate, auto-turrets can boost the firepower of a squad while defending or ambushing the enemy, visual equipment can help pick out targets at long range or at night and recon probes can be sent to spy on enemy positions or even assassinate key targets if necessary. Abilities such as medical and engineering can be used to keep your team moving forward at all times.

Vehicle Warfare  I used to bullseye n00bs in my T-16 back home... 

Vehicles play a more active role in Clone Wars. Each vehicle is unique and each side has a very different set of vehicles from the other. Many vehicles use a new control system. Tanks for example, are driven using the movement keys while the mouse controls the turret. Gunships can be used to ferry troops across the battlefield and support them by dropping supply crates full of ammunition, equipment and medical supplies. Turrets dotted around the battlefield can be commandeered to shoot down aerial targets or launch heavy munitions at enemy armour. Some maps may rely on vehicles for an attacking team to succeed. Vehicles are grouped into 3 sets, Simple, Medium and Advanced. Simple vehicles include speeders and swoops and can be piloted with Level 1 Vehicle ability. Medium, including tanks and and most walkers can be accessed at Level 2 and Advanced vehicles, like flying vehicles and huge ground vehicles require Level 3 to use. However, many vehicles have gun positions, which can be used by passengers without any Vehicle ability level.
