Description

Modeling is my nemesis. I love coding, in almost any language, designing levels, mapping, plain making stuff up, writing stories, 2d graphics design, all of it.
Except for modeling. Its very time consuming, and sometimes it can be a real bear to figure out how to make the damn things do what you want. So when resources are released under GPL I look for stuff I can use.
Like this tree - I think this is from the jDoom (or doomsday) project, which was finally released under GPL.
But this is an md2 - which darkplaces can use. But no editing tool I could find would fix a transparency issue. So I used an override tga graphic and just added an alpha channel. Unfortunately darkplaces has some alpha channel bug where it doesnt display various parts of the skin correctly. Its hard to see here, because from this angle the thing looks pretty good.
This wont be on any map soon. Besides, I have some better md3 trees, if I can just figure out why they always get lit fullbright.
