I'd also appreciate some feedback on this semi-related idea I had a few days ago: Moddb.com
Nothing super serious, but it could give you fun things to do once you've maxed out your character.

Voted "Yes." :D I would really like to see more "late-game" difficulty missions, and "special" mutant hunts sound like fun!

(Well, maybe not exactly *fun* - more like *terrifying* ;D)

if i may add an idea, overall they look great, did you consider to add special resistances to them? and what about special drops like certain artefacts? you could argue they gained their abilities by eating artefacts which spawned in the certain anomaly.

EDIT: The idea with the artefacts and abilities gained could be expanded with any artefact mod thus opening many different options.

This reminds me of the "Freak of Nature" enemies from Dying Light: The Following. I like the idea!

Wow. Never played Dying Light but those sound almost exactly like what I was thinking of. It was actually the hunting missions in GUN that put the idea in my head though. :P

Played this game long ago , it was great . I still have this game , on PC ... glad to see people still recall it .

The Gun was amazing game for its time - and there wasnt anything similar then - Red Dead Redemption was released 5 years after The Gun . Those hunting missions were pretty good - altough very simple to me .

Definitely ahead of its time. Wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar were heavily influenced by it when making Redemption. I never noticed until replaying it that they got Thomas Jane to voice the main character, too.

It was great - the only one of its kind , we could say "open world Wild West game" . The whole open world part was a bit small-ish , but it was good for its time . The game wasnt balanced too good for late game stages - meaning you could defeat almost anyone with ease .

I think we will probably get RDR2 on PC , several months after the soon release on consoles . Just like in case with GTA V . We will probably have finally a very good Wild West game with modern standards and graphics .

"The game wasn't balanced too good for late game stages"
Especially if you 100%'d the game and got the shotgun that fired exploding cannonballs.

Small worlds aren't a bad thing though, sometimes it works to the benefit of the game.
If everything is too far apart it can really badly affect the pacing of gameplay.

LOL , I 100 % the game and got that thing ... I think it was named "cannon nock gun" , it was different from Magruder's nock gun ( last boss ) by shooting those cannonballs .

Smaller maps werent too problematic ... altough , I feel like there were lots of empty spaces in between . Still , it was an old game , which came only 3 years after the Morrowind , which truly set standards on open-world .

And regarding Morrowind ... I think it was the only game where I spent my whole summer "barricaded" in the room , LMAO . It was a summer spent good - never had such gaming experience anymore , even not with STALKER .

I wish they would make a remake of even earlier Wild West game - old classic Outlaws . Now that was a game from golden age of gaming ...

ugh. such a great under rated game. it's arcade of course, but in the best way possible. wish they would make a second one. morrowind was a great title as well. god i spent so long modding that game. i still remember how freaking epic the underground mod was. that mod had everything you could think of. player homes, companions, weapons, characters, entire new and well done levels, scripts and missions. man, what a great time that was.

Nice idea ! Maybe decrease the fire effect which seems a bit to big for thé chimera's corps ? For my personnal opinion

With all due respect, hope you arnen't thinking of adding elemental mutants into the game. Leave that idea to the russian mods.

Nah, I always thought they were kinda silly too. They might be cool for maybe a special hunting task where they only spawn for that and are never seen again though.

Only genuine use I can think of for this feature in-game is maybe attaching small particles to Burer's hands, as they have three different "types" but with no visual disparity between them.

i.e. so you can tell visually what their attack type is: standard, thermal or electrical.

Now *that* sounds cool! I didn't even know there *were* different Burers, lol :D

Adding onto this, I did the same in Particle Paradise a few years ago adding my flies + sounds to mutated dogs. You could also look into that!

Darryl123, my personal opinion that this is a bit silly but as you say maybe if these were one time mission enemies that show up only once it could work.
Also I would change the flame for a more schorched Chimera textures like burned skin with a bit glowing veins.

Absolutely YES for this ... its a very good concept that could only add more to variety .

Maybe a different textures for specific monster variants that could range from rare , very rare all the way to being unique ? In Last Day , for first time we saw some bigger variety - altough it was mostly visual . I recall bloodsucker additional model as especially cool looking - some variations even having a spikes all over its bodies .

The monsters that could be fit for this are bloodsuckers , chimeras , pseudogiants , controllers , pseudodogs . A bit less , but still viable would be dogs and boars . Fleshes are not too fitting . Burers maybe - but only for a unique version or as very rare group . Karliks are already somewhat rare and special . Zombies are not fitting - but there is already a special variant of zombie ( transparent ) . Izloms also arent fitting . Poltergeists also arent too fitting because of their nature . Snorks definitely arent . Basically , majority of mutated humans arent fit for this - except above Controllers and maybe Burers .

Just some ideas :

We could put it like this , to keep it more lore-tight :

Bloodsucker : there could be very rare packs of bloodsuckers with different textures , like the ones from Last Day . They could have a bonus to health and / or small regenerative capabilities . There could be a specific bloodsucker in specific location ( like Stronglav from fan-made video : Youtube.com ) that would be very tall , have large pool of health and who could deal big damage . Stronglav is a good name , but maybe something based on vampires from slavic mythology is also good , too . . Or , I would also call unique variant of bloodsucker "Drekavac" ( slavic mythology ) which could have all of the above , and have different modified or changed sounds .

Pseudogiant : it definitely feels their size is imperative - so , yes , unique "building sized" Pseudogiant that has regenerative capabilities and massive ( biggest ) pool of health from any monster in game - which means we would need to use only the most damaging weapons to take it out quickly . Would call it simply "Gargantua". But I had idea to call it "Chernobog" ( "Black God" ) , as something of that size and health would be seen as "god" .

Chimera : It feels like it could have very rare packs - which could have different textures . Having a particular effects ( thermo- , electro- and chemo- ) is interesting - but lore-breaking a bit . Very rare packs could have small regeneration ( nothing too big - bigger regeneration should only be for unique pseudogiant ) and slightly increased speed - or maybe even increased radius of detection ( hearing and seeing ) if its possible to have it separately . Unique version would be even stronger . The name "Krampus" got onto my mind , but it could be too silly for some ... also a good name could be "Bauk" .

Controllers : "Kresnik" - would be a unique variant of Controller based on fire . I wonder , if it would be possible to make that Controller to attack by the way of spawning fire anomaly effect on or near the player ?

Burers : Electro-effect , unique "Perun" would be fitting name from slavic mythology . But maybe something else would be more viable - . Increased health pool and different texture .

Pseudodog - very fitting name would be "Psoglav" . "Pas" means "dog" in many slavic languages . There is also a hint to "PSI" - implying to its psy-capabilities . Maybe spawning more illusions than usual ?

Poltergeists - we already have variations of them . Snorks wouldnt feel fitting if anything was changed too much about them , except textures .

Burning chimeras with burned, cracked skin would be nice.
Also isn't there a "undead" texture for the chimera in the game files? Maybe you can use that for a special kind of boss.

Description

I poked around with getting particle and sound effects to attach to mutants' bones to see if it could be done in CoC.

Well I succeeded, and created these Godless monstrosities in the process.
