Denethor rarely rides out of the White City, but when he does, he mounts a noble destrier, clad in armor. It's barded in the color of the Citadel Guard - black. Findulias, late wife of Denethor sew silver flowers on the horse blanket, as a sign of her love towards her husband and beauty. However, after her tragic death, the broken-hearted Denethor painted the flowers black to ease his mourning, also as a sign for his people: nothing left for him but to lead them, they're the only ones who matter anymore.
