in response to criticism of the infantry trench-- we've changed the model so that it blends in better with the terrain. this shot shows a large network of trenches and guard towers mixed together. each trench is filled up with cutscene infantr and anti-tank guns.
Only one thing - i really dont like the big blue boxes, it shoud be better if you leave there just one or to choose differend way - but i can go with it its just my feedback :D
Much better! good work
early on I wanted to get rid of the blue boxes too--but after dozens and dozens of in-game action I kinda like them. those alpha-color boxes tell you who the trench belongs to! it helps to know whether you can stroll right through them or need to capture them first.
so, what sounds better-- trenches as being invulnerable and capable of being captured OR capable of being destroyed?
I think there should be a destroyable version that is constructed, and a campaign version that is captured, since I imagine this'd play a big part in some of your campaign missions.
Out of curiosity, by the way, what's your current campaign mission line-up?
I agree. The color tells you which faction the trenches belong to.
sounds reasonable-- one of the downsides of catching an enemy trench is that it immediately starts using up ammo resources. so it might be easier to simply destroy the standard engineer-built model.
making an indestructable/capturable campaign model should be pretty easy-- then players can have it both ways. of course, the indestructible version could only be placed in maps with the editor.
as far as campaign mission line-ups... wish I could say more, but I'm still working on them. I figure that there will be somewhere between 50-100 new maps (many of which will be used by multiple factions. right now I'm experimenting with much larger maps that could be used for more than one mission and by multiple sides).
