for early war tanks the short-barreled Panzer IV Ausf.D is the CO unit. it didn't seem right to have the Ausf.H as the CO unit for the likes of the Panzer I, II, and early Panzer IIIs. by the same token the Matilda is the early war CO tank for Great Britain, Australia, and Canada. pretty sure that the KV1 is still the common CO tank for the Russians. but for some of the earlier regiments there are CO versions of the T-26 and BT-5.

Panzer I would be a more appropriate choose for a CO unit. The panzer Is were used as command tanks(though they were specialized version) while the panzer IV was a close support howitzer to support the infantry with the panzer III served the anti role.

Having the Matilda causes some problems. The British Army had three classes of tanks: Light, Infantry, and Cruiser. The light tanks serving the reconnaissance role, the infantry to support the infantry, and the cruiser to exploit gaps in the enemy defenses. Having an infantry tank serve as the CO for cruiser and light tank regiment negates the speed advantage that these tanks have. Realistically, CO tanks were the same model of tank as the vehicles they commanded, but, their guns were replaced by Close Support Howitzer used to fire both High Explosive and smoke shells.

the Panzer IV Ausf.D as a CO tank is an intentional compromise. we haven't divided the nations into different eras. this makes the Panzer I and II based regiments nearly helpless against the early Russian and French tanks. to say nothing of the mid and late-war tanks. giving them a Panzer IV Ausf.D as a CO helps them remain more viable as the game shifts gears. I do have a Panzer 38t CO unit in the game already-- so perhaps I could swap out the Panzer IV Ausf.D for that unit. what do you think?

we already have a cruiser CO variant armed with a howitzer. the gun has light blast damage properties and slows down enemy travel speed and rate of fire by 35% for several seconds. just tell me which regiments you think would be better served by the trade and I'll fix them.

have you had a chance to beta test the mod? any specific regiments you would recommend a cruiser CO for?

I thought about having CO tanks be the same as the rest of the regiment-- but that would have produced a truly bewildering array of CO tanks. and it didn't seem worth the extra trouble.

right now the Brits have a Cruiser Mk.I CO with a 95 mm howitzer, the Matilda, the Sherman Firefly... and... a Churchill Crocodile that gets used for the British armored engineer regiments. (the same one with the AVRE)

I'd be willing to add one more CO type for the Brits. maybe a Crusader with a six-pounder or the Cromwell?

Cromwell CO sounds good for a late war regiment/s.

Is it possible to made periods? For example in the early setting player can only recruit early vehicles...

In the current beta minor nations stand little chance again major nations due to the super tanks simply destroy all. Is there any suggestion to beat the super tanks as minor nations?

as a general rule try combining anti-tank infantry spam with artillery. the artillery usually isn't powerful enough to wipe out tanks. but what it WILL do is lower their morale and health

don't be afraid to spam artillery bunkers. since artillery bunkers generally have an attack range of 70-100 it allows you to barrage critical choke points. they also have higher health and resistance to enemy tank guns. sometimes I'll build 10 artillery bunkers and have them bombarding a critical passageway non-stop to soften up enemy tanks trying to reach my base. this allows my infantry a better chance of killing them.

it's important to get the most out of obstacles such as barbed wire, dragon's teeth, and minefields. by combining these features with artillery and infantry it IS possible for a minor nation to defeat enemy tanks.

if your a minor nation where you place your base decides whether or not you have a chance at winning. if you're protected by several choke points or a large forest you'll have a shot. if you keep your HQ and major division tents near a fortified city your chances are better. even if you lose your Corps your divisions will still be able to stay supplied and ready for action.

target the Industrial divisions first. then get the Corps HQ. attack depots and tech buildings with artillery before moving in ground forces.

I'm also trying to add more anti-tank bunkers for the minor nations.

with China I would pump out a lot of smoke mortar infantry and combine them with AT infantry and artillery. the smoke mortars can slow down enemy units by 35% in both travel speed and rate of fire. this may not seem like much, but it can give your forces a big advantage.

some of the minor nations did not have fully updated health, defense, and attack values. if you see light and medium tanks with health of 300 and 400 then those were not updated as they should have been. (well, some of the Italian and Japanese tanks ARE pretty wimpy!)

this one is a work in progress. the map is probably half-way done. there are supposed to be multiple players on both sides. and I haven't added all of the objectives or put the finishing touches on the terrain, order of battle, and restrictions yet.
