Not only in Stalker--every gamer should know to have running hard saves throughout their adventure in case they need to roll back, especially for corruption like this.

Sometimes one is lucky enough to have a save before the corruption settles in, and with some persistence, can get through the game without it happening again.

Fortunately I always have multiple saved games in every game. But in Fallout 3 and New Vegas I haven’t saved for 10 minutes and I need to replay it. But that’s nothing against Gothic 3. When I want to save it takes 3 seconds. And one time I haven’t save for long time and died so I load the game and when I found that I waste 1 hour without save I have been really angry. And I playing heavy modded Gothic 3 because Vanilla game is very bad optimized. But still it’s a great game but really different than S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but at least S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series saving immediately and creating more saves doesn’t take a long time.

I am not sure that I agree that Stalker is a very hard game, I have only ever played it on Master setting and just found it to be somewhat of a challange but nothing too difficult.

Well my recent played mod has been Old Good STALKER Evolution and especially that mod is very hard. But if you playing Vanilla game that I understood because Vanilla is much easier. But even Vanilla is hard against Fallout 3 or New Vegas for example. Even when I using hardcore mods like RWD (Realistic weapon damage) and Complete overhauls PN for Vegas and FWE for Fallout 3. So for me S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is hard especially when I’m going against some soldiers or snorks. Overall S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are hard and challenging. And that’s great because there are not many challenging games and that’s important for me.

I wish you any luck I could give for this task... this problem is a real old one and finding the right way to fix won't be easy. But if I look at stalker... what is was and what it is now... I would say, even this problem will be fixed! (One of the reason why I always take every single gun on the ground with me and sell, maybe repair it before... keeps the number maybe lower... helped me until today.)

Indeed, some people on GSC forum wrote about keeping small amount of weapons, make PDA "clear from tasks" as could be possible etc. Maybe these tips will help for those who must fighting with this problem. We will consult it with trojanuch from MDT, he has good knowledge about it. And we'll see.

I always make "hard saves" - quicksaves get broken more often. People say the game can't pause itself intime to make quicksave sometimes, thus it's better to make saves using main menu - everything is still and ready for record.

Last year misery 2 had the same problem. But within a month they fixed corrupt saves with a patch. Consulting them is a good idea.

Perhaps that was achieved reducing the amount of information a save has to process at any given time in the form of fewer spawns, fewer items per NPC and the like... Maybe the save system cant quite handle a buffed ALife with lots of stuff going on.
I do remember someone recommending against taking sidequests as much as possible. Cant remember who, might be from AA...

I played ShoC two times, and both CS and CoP without any save game corruption. But when I played CoP for the second time with the SGM 2.2 mod (all-in-one), towards the end of the campaign suddenly my ca. 30 last save games stopped working. (I only used hard saves, except for the autosaves made by the game itself). I had no other option than to replay many hours of gameplay. It really is an annoying bug.

We've found reason why engine sometimes corrupting saved games.

Try to imagine following situation - Stalker's world has own environment, NPC's, objects, items selled by traders, etc. etc (just everything) - all of these aspects are processed by engine which has some limitations. Sometimes game's engine can't handle the amount of data it has to save/load and then - you're received CTD with above logs. Saves are corrupted because engine knows earlier that he wouldn't handle amount of data so he can only tell: "Fuck you and your gameplay. I need to rest, bye"

I don't know if we are able to make something with it but we'll think about it and at least try. In addition it's strange situation because on 100 people there are about 10-15 who has this problem. Not 100 players, only few percent. We have no ANY idea why this problem won't touch everyone.

That's not all: I had same problem in other mods; Complete 2009, Priboi Story, Return of the Scar and other mods which didn't added so many stuff. This problem was EVEN IN VANILLA CLEAR SKY. GSC knew about it and they had veeeery "nice" adventure with minimize it. I've found posts where people who played in MISERY had same problem, so in COP it's also possible.

It's fucking frustrating guys, because we made everything through these years to make the mod stable as possible but X-Ray won't allow us to make it perfect. Like evil spirit. Of course it doesn't mean that AA2 it's unplayable or something, no. There are thousands of people who has finished the SoC with AA2. You have to remember about possibility that somewhere can sneaking little bastard who it's able to make a lot of bad things.
