BetterReticle v1.2
Full Version 5 commentsThe Better Reticle mod fixes the oversized reticles and improves accuracy.
The goal of Alpha Protocol Improved! is to make this game more enjoyable by fixing the horrible reticle/aiming and adding various tweaks through a collection of .ini edits. These are basically just custom tweaks I'm using as I play through Alpha Protocol for the first time on PC. I've played the game quite a bit on Xbox 360 so I'm not new to the game. And now that I have a (somewhat)modable version I'm attempting to fix all the little things that bugged me and add features I've always wanted. I figured someone, somewhere may be interested in my tweaked .ini files.
I'm also planning various texture edits here and there through the use of Texmod and EasyTexMod. I'm not planning a full on HD overhaul or anything, just simple color edits and re-textures.
So far I have....
.ini tweaks:
BetterReticles - Smaller reticle/Increased accuracy.
SneakyArmor - Adds stealth bonues to all armors. Credit goes to SNIPER321JRC for the tech armor edit!(Thank you, whoever you are! Tech armor is the one I actually care about!)
SmootherMovement - Adjusts various movement speeds, increases sprint distance. Includes an optional version which lowers the prerequisites for passive perks(Limited Bloodshed, Merciful, etc.)
Texture mods:
(Requires Texmod and EasyTexMod)
TrueCrosshairs - Replaces default reticles with traditional crosshairs. Designed to work with the latest version of Better Reticles.
NewCasualOutfits - Alternate re-textured casual outfits for Mike. This is a WIP.
NoAwarenessArrows - Removes the Blue, Yellow, and Red Awareness Arrows forced on you through leveling up stealth.
SisBubblegum - Recolors a few of Sis' clothing accessories pink because it's cute and so is she. :)
G22BlackUniforms - Recolors the standard G22 uniforms from red to black to make them look more like badass and less silly.
Future plans/Things I'm working on:
BetterReticleThroughLeveling - The goal with this one should be obvious by it's name. Testing and balancing are extremely tedious and time consuming, however.
Hardcore mode/AI enhancement - Just to even the odds....
Alternate camouflage for all Armors.
NPC re-textures.
Various misc. texture mods using Texmod/EasyTexMod.
Other Junk:

Are you still working on NPC retextures and armor camoflage changes? Would be cool to have more realistic camoflages for the armors.

Thank you for all the hard work.
Everything works and easy to set up.
Also, can confirm, merging it with Rebalance mod is possible, but should be done manually ofc, and there were some changes in Rebalance I personally didn't want to use.
No problem, thank you downloading. :)
Edit:
Btw, feel free to upload your merged .inis in the Addons section, if you'd like. I'm sure some people would be interested.
All I ask is that you write clear installation instructions and description of your .ini's additions/changes for people, and that it is in the Addon section and NOT the main Files section.
there's another mod on here called Alpha Protocol Rebalanced. It contains useful changes to me, I'm guessing they're both completely incompatible?
Rebalanced edits the default .ini files in the game's install folder directly where as my mod edits the user .ini files in your documents folder so you'll have to merge the changes from the Rebalanced .ini files into my .ini files for them to be compatible.
I am sorry I may be somewhat of an idiot...but you say it requires "Texmod" May I ask where I can find these to get the right ones?
The links to Texmod and instructions are in the descriptions of the texture mods that rely on it.(The description is below the download button. Click Read More... to expand the description. Texmod is here on moddb.com, EasyTexMod is on the nexus)
Texmod is only required for the texture replacements -- so you *don't* need it for Better Reticle or Smoother Movement, for example. As for EasyTexMod; it's just an auto launcher for texmod proper and makes using texture packs which rely on texmod less of a hassle. It's not a hard requirement.
This game supports texture modding FYI.
Can you elaborate? Is there a tutorial you could link?
Back on 2019, when I was working on this, I found multiple ways to extract textures but couldn't find a way to get modded textures back in the game without resorting to texmod.
Honestly, I'd be more interested in getting customized models to work, if you have any info on that -- fixing/smoothing character animations would be a higher priority for me than texture upscaling, to be frank.
I reinstalled AP after years and I'm using the reticle, crosshair, and movement. It certainly cleared up some issues I had with the gameplay. Good stuff.
