Alpha Project is a Battlefield 2 modification which goals are to bring back all the features that were left out in the retail game. The gameplay style of the mod is a mixture of arcade and realism.

NOTE:

This featurelist is NOT final, the aboth listed features are wanted but not confirmed!

I want to include as much of the aboth as possible, since the first battlefield 2 game was c# based and had more in common with battlefield 1942, some features might not be possible to implent.

Also some things might wont be possible because of engine limitations!
Thought i do my best on getting the battlefield feeling back into the game as it was planed before all those additional features were dropped...

Talk to some of the gui experts on BF2 and see if it is possible to switch sights on weapons. IE: irons sights to acog to red dot to holo sights.

No doubt, that's a mod I would like to work on!
Battlefield 2 really looked good before EA rushed Dice. Plus, I really like your idea to keep a balance between arcade and realism, instead of thinking like those new games/mods who add rails on anything...

1. Drop supply crates from transport helicopters (transport helicopters = blackhawk and chinook)onto the battlefield. Pilot must fly low enough to drop the crate. If flying too high, crate will break or crate will not even drop.

2. (a) - Soldiers must rappel onto the battlefield from transport helicopters.
(b) - Helicopter must hover (not exceed a certain speed) and cannot exceed a certain height otherwise soldiers can't rappel onto battlefield.
(c) - Soldiers can only jump out and parachute if helicopter has taken a percentage of damage.

3. Special ops and Snipers are able to designate a target and call in an airstrike. The airstrike will be a powerful air-to-ground missile which covers a large radius. This missile can only be launched once a target has been designated. The pilot will then have 45 seconds to act before you have to re-designate the target again. Fighter plane only holds one large radius missile.

4. Toxic gas grenade which slowly decreases the health of both friendly (including you) and enemy units inside the smoke radius. Does not affect enclosed vehicles (eg. Tank and APC) and aircrafts.

5. Orange beacon - The beacon can be activated by pressing a key on the keyboard. This alerts friendly units on the mini-map that they're looking for a ride. Remains active for 60 seconds until automatically deactivated. The player will know its active by seeing an orange icon flashing somewhere on the HUD.

6. Brown beacon - Can be activated using another key which alerts friendly units on the mini-map that the player needs backup. Remains active for 30 seconds until automatically deactivated. The player will know its active by seeing an brown icon flashing somewhere on the HUD.

All this writing has put me in the mood to play BF2. So I'm gonna go play now. I'll write more later! :D

nice ideas there mate, especialy like the idea of the beacons to be visible on the minimap for others, i am not sure if it is doable for b2 but i can imagine such stuff would be great for the next bf generation, propably bf3 :)

All weapons in the mod will have 3d sights, even shotguns :)

@naxphoenix That idea with parachute I don't like except for pilot and gunners.

An idea from myself. If the pilot dies in cockpit of a helicopter then co-pilot could take over control without changing the seat. Which made me think, no changing seats. Wouldn't it be better?

They made a big deal out of it in PR for about two years, they tried everything, its hardcoded, shut down, dead end, looks like a waste of effort and time to me :(...Hope the have the kahonies to put that in bf3-sure would please all us BF fans

Sorry to say that but this might wont happen, i got no bf2 flashmenu modder neighter a character modeler, both are propably the hardest things to do with bf2 and noone of our team got experiance with it :(

Is there any chance that you will make infantry a little more healthy with more energy and power in combat(i mean vitality), and not remain only as simple cannon fodder, like vanilla BF2. What you think about this?

Does the 3d sniper scope shader mean just a simple blur shader like in PR? If so i have made one based on this tutorial ( Gamerendering.com ) I made it so that it hooks into the BF2 engine through the TV effect.

1. M16A4 with M203 .
2. URX on M16A4/M4 .I think URX looks better than RAS .
3. M107 . I think rail on the top looks better .
4. New Tank/APC hud like AIX
5. New reload animation like PR . Of course , It needn't to be as slow as PR .

Greetings Team Alpha Project,

I am a big fan of the work they are doing and would like to make a suggestion:

I thought it would be cool to add anti-air missiles to the soldiers, as the FIM-92 Stinger and Strela 2 Stinger mod AIX 2.0, of course zoom the 3D worked as it has been great in other guns they made.

I'm looking forward to the release of the new patch Alpha Project (Jones Relax, I'm not asking when it will be, but hopefully will be soon kkk):D

This is a amazing mod, and I can't wait for all this to become reality.
I have only three suggestions, and one is related to NaxPhoenix's suggestion. Is there a way for you to program the AI pilots so that they actually land the Helicoptors? Maybe they could hover, then decrease height once over a flat area large enough for landing. Then the soldier riding in them could bail out.
My other suggestion is a bit more simple. Maybe vehicle wrecks could stay for a much longer time, but the vehicles could still respawn.
Finally, Russian forces?

Two more things, does anyone know how if I could turn crosshairs back on? 'cause I don't really like it without them.

New vehicles!!!T-90,BTR-90,VODNIK,MI-28,su-34..all this vehicles are used by russian forces not middle eastern.Beter add T-72 modernized,mi-24,mi-8,
btr-80,70,mig-29UBK,su-25 without M.This are vehicles wich are used by MEC beter tell countrys from middle east!Hope you do somthing about this ;)
Also new HUD and sounds for vehicles will be awesome...

What about a grapple-hook launcher, or a system where the weapon can jam in certain circumstances, prompting the player to perform maintenance on their weapon, sounds silly and time wasting I know, but I'm just throwing some ideas out there, never know if you don't try eh?

Also, maybe think about customizing the player, E.G tradeoff between ammo cap or extra grenades (FRAG/40MM depending on the class) maybe also choosing special equipment such as the NVG's or possibly Thermal's (IR strobes?) like I said, just spitballin here.

In any bf2 mod, the AI in a chopper NEVER pick you up when you request them to. I get so mad! Is there a way to make them to fly down so you can get in?
