**The production of this mod has been temporarily halted due to extensive work on another, much more complex and in depth mod that I have been working on. I hope you'll understand this choice, and I urge you to keeep a look out on the mods list within the next couple of weeks for the announcement of the mod. It's an extremely big project, so I don't expect to come back to this mod for some time. I will still try to come back and create maps and script missions, but it won't be on an organized and consistent level as before**
Follow a squad of paratroopers dropped into Normandy on the 6th of June, 1944. From the disorganized night drop, to the seizure of Carentan and the Battle of Bloody Gulch, fought to protect the town they had all bled for to capture.
From the beach landings at Utah to the reinforcement of the inland Airborne forces, follow elements of the 4ID as they link up with the 2nd Armored Division for their push out of Normandy.
"For Queen and Country"
Follow elements of the British 3rd Infantry as they storm Sword Beach, repel German armored counter-attacks and then attempt to pry Caen from German hold.
"Rangers Lead the Way"
Follow the 225 elite Rangers as they assault the cliffs of Pointe Du Hoc and go in the search for the missing German artillery.
*This mod is NOT meant to be 100% historically accurate. While I will try to keep historical accuracy present throughout, I want this campaign mod to be playable for hardcore and casual gamers alike. If you're looking for a mod which is completely accurate and is made by a huge team of people with plenty of assets, this is not the mod for you. If you're a patient person who doesn't mind playing with vanilla models, and is just looking to blow some sh*t up with your friends, then hit the track button!
Answers to any queries:
Q: When will it be released?
A: I'm a one man team building maps, scripting and eventually creating skins too. I only have limited time, so it may take a while to finish.
Q: Will it include new buildings/guns/ect?
A: At this moment, it's being built with vanilla assets, but I'm looking to add in extra props and re-do the skins of all the American and German troops
Q: Will the missions be co-op compatible?
A: I'm currently testing the auto_assign script, so I'm working on it at the moment. Best case scenario; co-op will be included
The first campaign ("Airborne") is now in the scripting phase. All maps are first created, then scripted. As of now, the first campaign stands at only 4 missions, so I might add another mission following the Battle of Bloody Gulch where you hunt snipers in the Norman countryside (based on Band of Brothers). Brecourt Manor will also have to be redone due to the original version having serious pathfinding issues. Tasks as simple as making a patrol walk in an endless circle didn't work properly. Though despite that setback, I believe the maps will be 100% complete before the end of the month.
The following are just a few screenshots I've already posted to sum up the progress of "Airborne".
Make sure to hit that "track" button! It helps me out and you'll be able to see when I update (and possible release a few teaser missions ;) )
*Note I'm currently having talks with a team in helping them out with their mod. As I'm not sure if I can say anything about it due to not being sure if they've agreed on letting me help out, all I can say is that progress may slow down in the future, or come to a complete stop for a short period. Regardless, this mod WILL NOT die off at any point.
