A full scale submod for Absolute Corruption 2.4 that enhances the original with improved AI, better models and graphics, UGC compatibility, and more features and content. You MUST have Absolute Corruption Mod 2.4 installed (and preferably backed up) before installing this add-on. I will be listening to feedback and making adjustments.
So you want Darth in the Executor, do you? Well, you can get your wish, but there will be some risk involved. Darth will initially spawn with his TIE Advanced squadron and he will be available for ground combat per vanilla. At tech 5, however, you will get the option of putting him in command of the Executor. Here's the catch: While vanilla Vader will respawn as many times as he is defeated, Darth is gone forever if the Executor is destroyed while he is in command. So in effect you are given the option of a "double or nothing" hero upgrade. Similar such upgrades are planned for other heroes also. More details to come!
Good thing that you return him as a starfighter. I didn't like his ISD as well as I don't like Executor.

Personally, I've always be a huge fan of once the hero is dead, they're dead. It gives them much more of a purpose then just being some disposable unit that responds for free.
I think both approaches have merit. The chief problem with the "once dead, always dead" system is that it tends towards making players overly risk averse. You really don't want to risk your heroes often knowing that they are permanently toast if something goes awry. On the other hand, the vanilla game lends itself to a "throw all the heroes out there, every battle" approach because you really have nothing to lose by doing so. I am trying right now to find a way to strike a balance between the two, and this is one idea I plan to implement.
I honestly really like your Idea for Darth Vader. Having other heroes who you could choose to have upgraded into a bigger ship is a good idea. I feel like heroes who use advanced ships should follow the permadeath system, while the other heroes who use weaker ships could respond after they go down. As for ground heroes, I don't think they should have permadeath because of how ******** ground combat can be.
What you say about ground applies to heroes in small ships as well. Its very easy to get a hero like Boba or Han out of position in a space battle only to see them go down in flames in an instant.
there should be a smaller upgrade around tech 3 ish that lets you put him in his ISD
