This mod aims to update much of the 2004 Axis and Allies RTS game to modern day warfare. A new campaign is planned along with a new WW2 mode, and current nations to be involved include China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, EU, and many other countries. Infantry and naval combat are being entirely reworked, as is the game economy.
Here we have several US Armored Cavalry troops and Mechanized Infantry (Stryker) battalions.
The capability of most vehicles to transport infantry to the front-line is a major attribute, and these sort of units are therefore much better for offensives.
Foot infantry are still better suited for defense and surgical strikes.
looks cool. nice to see the mod is still making progress.
out of curiosity, do you think that the experience rank can/should be passed down to summoned infantry? did you have an economic penalty for summoned regiments or build it into the original regiment?
from a game-play stand-point I've been making the parent regiment very expensive AND using an economic penalty for summoned regiments to prevent spam. when the regiments get summoned they detract from the regiment limit and available resources. if you have too many regiments summoning and your economy can't support this it will actually hurt you.
since this is such a new feature-- I wanted to see what you thought about summoned regiments and how they relate to the player's economy.
I do agree that experienced regular infantry are best for defense. summoned infantry regiments can gain experience-- but they aren't capable of entrenchment.
Currently summoned units do not detract from the unit limit, but they do require 1 ammo each. The infantry units within each summoned unit are also different than regular infantry in that they have much, much longer resupply times, which means that summoner regiments are not able to spam infantry as easily.
Furthermore, these regiments do not summon much infantry by themselves, and therefore I've managed to avoid having to make them too expensive or drain too much resources.
If I could give summoned infantry experience bonuses I would, since it would make sense given that they are supposed to be part of the regiment from which they were summoned. I have not yet been able to do this.
