This mod aims to update much of the 2004 Axis and Allies RTS game to modern day warfare. A new campaign is planned along with a new WW2 mode, and current nations to be involved include China, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, EU, and many other countries. Infantry and naval combat are being entirely reworked, as is the game economy.

If you plan on including a lot of minor nations. 3D .NIF.
If Not then Real Images.

Yup I agree with Doctor_Guy, though if you put the time in or someone else did who was keen to get images for each unit for the minor nations that would be really neat. Its the little thing that make a great mod truly amazing. But your pretty much there already, keep up the great work!

Description

[[NOTICE: Ignore the picture, it's just for show. I noticed you guys tend not to read the news so I'm putting this here.]]

I am pleased to announce that the groundwork for this mod has been pretty much completed.

From this point on I will be working on adding units and regiments through the same process I have been using since I began this mod.

One serious question remains, however. Would you guys prefer I continue to use Unit Icons taken from real pictures of the specific unit in real life? Or would you rather I create Unit Icons from the 3d models being used ingame.

There are some may pros and cons at play here.

Real Images:
PROS:
-Usually of higher quality than game model counterpart.
-More realistic looking (Obviously)
-Matches better with the CO Portraits (Which use real images)
CONS:
-Often appear inconsistent with regard to other unit icons.
-Some of the minor factions do not have a good supply of pictures for unit icons (Like African nations, or North Korea.)
-The pictures are not my own work.

Images taken from 3D .NIF Model:
PROS:
-Easy process, same process used in vanilla game.
-Allows for more specific unit icons than real world images
-Appears consistent when compared with other unit icons.
-Guarantees high quality images for minor factions.
CONS:
-Less realistic looking (Obviously)
-May not appear to match well with CO Portait image.

I am split 50/50 on this issue, currently. It would technically be more convenient for me to continue using real world images, but I will inevitably run into issues with them and I have already had trouble finding images of African soldiers and equipment. Consistency is already a large issue, and the vast majority of the pictures I am using are, for most countries, of soldiers and vehicles in action in the middle east and thus in desert camo. Likewise many Russian unit icons have a snowy background.

Please tell me what you think about this! Input is critical.
