DISCLAIMER:

It’s a FANMADE revision and in no way attempts to be a continuation of the original mod. All the changes included are mostly just a patchwork of different elements borrowed either from other M&B mods or other games.

FEATURES:

-Interface overhaul (finally it has this genuine western feel with lots of wood and crimson red hide)

-New more western-ish in-game font

-Original text colors changed (green, red and blue text was unreadable with the new interface so I changed it mostly to black)

-Several textures (Blood, posters etc) replaced with fresh ones (blood is now more crisp in my opinion but if you disagree you can replace it with the old ones)

-New smaller hud and crosshair (it may not be perfect but it works way better in my opinion)

- ...and finally... the most important fix.. NO MORE buffer crashing! (which happened to be an issue for me and others) I included the enhanced edition of M&B with the mod that seems to fix it.

I really wish I could change a few more things like:

-Deleting the unfinished „storyline” quests that mostly lead to nowhere and replacing them with the randomly generated ones that you would get from the bartender or a random person on the street (like buffalo hunting, horse stealing, indian scouting or whatever)

-Adding better more era-appropriate attire for women npcs

-Better forts

- ... and more but I’m afraid I lack the skill for all that

NOTES:

-1866 works ONLY with the original Mount&Blade game. You’ll need the serial key in order to run the original Mount&Blade (You can try your Warband serial Key I heard it worked for some)

-For those who don’t want to mess with their original Mount&Blade folder just copy: font_data.xml from Data folder and copy all 373 textures from the Texture folder into your directory (1866 uses core Mount&Blade interface and font so if you want to have it replaced with the ones I made you gotta either use the Mount&Blade version that I included with the mod or do as I mentioned)

Have fun fellow cowboys

LET'S REVIVE 1866

News

If there is someone out there who is good at programming and modding in general and wishes to put some more life into this awesome mod. Contact me through an inbox. Maybe we'll squeeze even more juice from it before the Bannerlord comes out... and before some decent and stable mods will be released for it (I count another 2 years for that haha).

Anyone know how to use the 4gb Patch with Steam? I already had it installed but out of nowhere one day the launcher started requesting my CD key and wouldn't let me leave trial mode no matter how many times I enter it. Decided to reinstall the mod using just the module/texture folders as suggested without touching the EXE, classic crash shenanigans ensued, but after applying the NTCore 4gb patch again the game wont launch and is giving me the "Steam Error Code 51" schtick. Obviously DRM related but any work around would be appreciated.

if you're having crashes download the 4gb patcher program from the article or look for the Large Address Aware program and apply it to the 'runme.exe' in your M&B directory, if you apply it to mount&blade;.exe it'll throw errors at you when you try and launch

Just so you know, switching the render method in the launcher options from Direct X 9 to Direct X 7 seems to permanently fix crashes.

There's no music and the game crashes when you enter settlements. I'm so disappointed, there used to be a perfectly functionnal version around and now we're doomed.
