War, raging for decades... The one plague we thought was a matter from the past comes back to haunt us. Always. What began as a peaceful expedition motivated by survival is now an all out war for supremacy. Already, armies are massing on the borders. It all started some six years ago. What seemed like the greatest discovery of mankind in the Sirius sector might now be the dawn of our extinction. The technology, called Mass Phasing, can shatter bodies in smaller and smaller components, up to subatomic levels. Furthermore, it can then reverse the process and basically create mass from energy after transforming mass into energy. This discovery could open the doors of a new golden age for Humanity. Unfortunately, its first purpose was predictable: war. Samura Industries, the minds behind this massive breakthrough, lost an experimental weapon during an undercover shipment. Soon afterwards, Rheinland is rumored to have access to a weapon of unbelievable strength. Worried, the Kusari government expects the worst. However, Rheinland surprises everyone by concluding a durable alliance with Kusari and declaring war on Liberty, destroying the planet Houston. Bretonia comes to aid Liberty and the Houses War... Has begun.

Well. its been along while since the last update, or news post hehe, but alot of stuff has been getting done, in that time, Program Expert was working on a new tool, at first exclusively for the MOD's Development, but then decided that it should be released to the public to use. The tool is called Freelancer Developer, or, FLDev for short. This tool can convert a Excel spreadsheet into a ini file for use with freelancer ^^, for example, we needed a fast way to code in 200+ guns into the MOD quickly.. using this tool, we was able to code them in, in 2 seconds. Aswell as this, it can do a host of other things, and its XML Editor is the best availbile. info cards, adding newstrings, search function, its got alot of stuff, plsu little things like a calculator, colour converter, the feature list is quite impressive for such a new utility. if you would like to find out more about FLDev you can visit it here - The-starport.net
Alot of things have been up-in-arms as of late with regards to the site, i know people have been posting on the site, tho the general activity there is.. zero hehe :D. this is a failure on our part as * I * feel that our involvemnt and interaction with the community we have has been very little, a high percentage of our users that are registered havent posted and the ones that do, are very loyal and i do congratualte you on your patience with us :) *claps*
It come to my attention that some people may not have been able to register with the site due to the iamge verification being broken. we apologise MASSIVELY for not realising this (more to the point we didnt even know!) and i throw out a thanks to russo for pointing this out ^^. So, now, you can now register without being horrified by the image verification as it has now been fixed WOOP!. this might be why so little have posted, who knows eh? :D
If you have visted the site recently youll find the theme has changed.. ALOT, the old theme was becomming an eye-sore so i went in search of greater things and discovered this neat theme from tinrportal.com and went about installing it, spent all morning and most of the afternoon modifying various CSS files and bits of code to get it working right, but got there in the end ^^, modified some of the pictures so the colour scheme fitted with the FL:WT colour theme and now it looks like a proper freelancer website. Most people might not be aware of the little picture in the top right of the website, this picture is user specified from a list of pictures which have been placed there by myself. you can choose which picture you would liek to see in the top right by clicking the drop down menu in that corner and selecting the picture, ALL of them are a cut up form of a screenshot from in the War-Torn MOD and can provide a slight hint as to what you can expect ^^, if you would like to see your own freelancer picture up there, send me a e-mail at cheeseontoast123@gmail.com ill send you the details on size and if i need edit your picture at all (you may provide a full screenshot so tell me what part you want visible :))
Thats about it for now, in summary, the mod is in development, it WILL be completed, The site has been updated (www.fl-wt.com) oh almost forgot! just paid for the domain to be re-newed so we dont dissappear off the interwebs :D, FLDev is goign to be awesome (credit goes out to those that have helped PE) and im still cheesy and like to post big things at 5:35am ;)
Cheers!

Yes! My Menu screen made it onto the ModDB page. :D
hehe, tis awesome dude :D
I thought that what he meant by singleplayer, was if you can run it on singleplay without the need to go online to multiplayer mode. He wanted to know wheter the mod has OpenSP in it. I too want to know that, because I hate it when people have to play certain mods only online, without the OpenSP ( multiplayer like, but not online, no missions, etc. )
well at the moment, there is a very dirty openSP addon mod which ive created but people are having issues with it, if a few people still wish to play single player upon the release, then it shouldn't be too much trouble to get a proper working version out for it (seriously i did the current one in like a minute LOL :D) hope that answers your question :)
I only play sp cause my gameing computer isnt networked into this one. I would appreciate it. lol. Just thought id kinda cast my vote thing! ;)
lol, i think we are gunna have to create a SP version NOES! :D
So, I have two questions. Will this be a single player mod, and will it run on a Radeon 9600? I might not be able to upgrade this computer for another few months. ):
To answer your first question, this is up for debate ATM, the idea behind the current story was for it to be a continuation from the original game (could call that "trying to think of a FL" game"), whilst keeping the original games feel, i mean, a technology development company coming up with something like mass phasing (in terms of sci-fi etc) is entirely possible. The first use of this new tech goes straight to the military, that is very true for our current world we live in today :). The idea of a single player version would be, amazing, imo, this story would fit the bill perfect for such a venture. only thing that would be stopping us from this is the amount of work required, i can list a few things which would be needed to do be done which are no easy tasks
- script writing (dialogue for new missions)
- coding of new missions (we can do this which, but its no easy task)
- new cinematic's (which are easy for say the likes of LUA scripters, theres a number of them that can code cinematic's REALLY well.
just those 3 points there are enough to make anyone wanting to do such a thing go "EEK!". for now tho, we feel the multiplayer would be enough :) but who knows, we *may* just attempt it ;)
Basically, think of it this way: if you could run Freelancer without any problem, you should be able to run the mod without too much hassle. It might be a bit slower, but I doubt it'll actually become unplayable.
If you already need to lower the graphics by a few notches though, you might run into some issues if you want to keep the eye candy at the same bar.
I believe the 9600 the game fine, but I can't say for the 8500 (I've never owned something similar, so I can't tell about its performance). Refer to what I said as a rough guideline.
